With the entry into the municipal council of Stefania Fornaro (delegation to the environment), the mayor Rinaldo Melucci he managed to strengthen the precarious state of the numbers in the city council, where he is making his entry Vittorio Mele, the first of the non-elected on the Con list but who should now be part of a new council group: Nova – Democrats and Reformists. They will be with him Paolo Castronoviwho will assume the role of group leader, e Salvatore Brisci. A group that one of its councilors immediately expressed: Edmondo Ruggiero, which takes on heavy responsibilities for urban planning and mobility. The new council structure is completed with the appointment of Marcello Murgiawhich takes the place of Carlo Liuzziappointed councilor just three months ago and already resigned for undisclosed reasons.
Yet another carousel, as we said, serves Melucci to guarantee himself an extra number in the city council: now the majority councilors are eighteen and no longer just seventeen. Beyond, therefore, the skills of the new councilor Fornaro, it is plausible that the mayor’s move was functional precisely to this strengthening which will allow him greater breathing space also in view of the next approval of the final account. Not only that: this way he ends up being isolated too Piero Bitetti, councilor of Con, against whom there seems to be a movement to distrust him from the position of Prime Minister. In this regard it must be said that this new structure ends up weakening Luigi Abbate, who – with a majority of eighteen – ceases to be the tipping point of the balance and this already makes the odds of his election to the presidency of the assembly in place of Bitetti significantly drop (always assuming that no confidence is reached, given which presumably would then have to be faced in the administrative tribunals with possible effects on the civil level). Together with Abbate, all are weakened aspiring “seventeenths” ready to make their decisive vote count.
The purpose of this further revolution is therefore quite clear. Less clear is what all this will bring to the city, which is in continuous and profound suffering despite the succession of now frenetic reshuffles, of transhumances from one group to another, of the acrobatic evolutions from the opposition to the majority. The feeling continues to be strong, therefore, that these casual changes are functional, rather than for the city, for a survival as an end in itself of this administration. It happens when the political-cultural values of reference are absent and when a position as a councilor is equivalent to a job, with relative income, which would be difficult to find outside the council chamber.
