He left on Monday 15th April Bike to Work project of the Municipality of Modena, aimed at promoting alternative modes of transport to private motorized vehicles.

Co-financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region with €185,157.00 to which are added own resources for a further €79,400.00 for a total of over €260,000the project will award a maximum of 1,500 workers adults who have their residence and/or place of work within the Municipality of Modena, a direct incentive-mobility voucher for cycling/MPPE (Mainly Electric-Propelled Scooter) when traveling from home to work and vice versa in the period from 15 April to 30 September 2024 or in any case until the financial availability is exhausted.

The incentive, equal to €0.20/km and to a maximum of €50 per monthwill be credited in the months of July and October directly to the bank or postal account indicated by the participants when submitting the application on the Wecity sustainable mobility platform, which will take care of tracking all movements.

“As we have seen in recent years, encouraging the use of bicycles as the main means of transport not only improves the health of our citizens, but also contributes to reducing air pollution and traffic on our streets. – commented the Eng. Sara Bosoni, head of the Mobility, traffic and urbanization office and RUP of the project – Supporting this initiative not only promotes an active and sustainable lifestyle, but also a more livable and healthy urban environment for everyone. Confirmation of this is provided by the results of the ‘National experimental program for sustainable home-school and home-work mobility’ carried out in recent years together with Wecity and other partners and which involved 600 users in 24 months for a total of 1 million kilometers cycled and 157 tons of CO2 saved. We therefore have great expectations for this new project too.”

Applications for Bike to Work must be submitted by entering the mission code indicated in the notice in the section CHALLENGES of the Wecity app. Once the registration procedure has been completed, Bike to Work Modena 2024 will appear in the app among the active missions. The ranking of participants will then be drawn up on the basis of the chronological order of completion of the procedure itself.

“The collaboration with the Municipality of Modena for the Bike to Work project is a further significant step towards a more sustainable urban future. We are really happy to help promote cycling in this city once again thanks to the financial support and far-sighted vision of the municipal administration – added Paolo Ferri, CEO and founder of Wecity – It is essential that public administrations actively engage in promoting sustainable mobility and encourage a behavioral change towards more eco-friendly modes of transport. This is a top priority for creating stronger, more sustainable communities for the future.”

Citizens participating in the project will have the opportunity to indicate two alternative places as “home” and two as “workplace”. Each home-work trip, as a whole, must last less than 4 hours. In the case of home-work journeys that involve the interchange with means other than bicycles or MPPE, for the purposes of providing the mobility voucher, Wecity will only take into account the portions of the journey made by bicycle/MPPE.
