Italian boxing championships in Chianciano Terme

Schoolboy and Junior categories involved in the competition from 18 to 21 April. Event organized by the Boxing Club Siena and Pugilistica Colligiana

CHIANCIANO TERME. Chianciano Terme is ready to host, from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st April, the Italian Schoolboy and Junior Championships, reserved for boxers aged 13 to 15 for the first category and for boxers aged 15 to 17 for the juniors.

As already happened for the December 2023 Absolutes, which saw the collaboration between Boxing Club Siena and Pugilistica Carrarese, this is a premiere for the Siena area: in this case, the two sports associations Boxing Club Siena and Pugilistica Colligiana, uniting as in the forces, will organize one of the most important events in the Italian boxing scene. There will be hundreds of boxers who will lock gloves in the two rings set up at the Chianciano Terme sports hall, eager to wear the tricolor vest reserved for national champions; moreover, a necessary step to aspire to ever higher goals and be part of the Italian national boxing team. As always, a great satisfaction for the Siena Boxing Club and Colligiana Pugilistics, which after the Mura Tournament, National Criterium (the first Italian event held in 2016, again in Chianciano Terme), Sparring-Io and Italian Under 22 Championships, Absolute Italian Championships 2023, organized in collaboration with Pugilistica Carrarese, have received this new organizational burden and honor. The event, which will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Italian Boxing Federation, every afternoon from 2pm to 8pm, will involve the best young Italian boxers, who will battle along the path that could lead them, from 2028, to live the dream Olympic.

According to Achille Cocco, sports technician of the ASD Boxing Club Siena and Vice President of the CR of the FPI, “the path to organize such an event is fraught with difficulties, as well as very tiring; Boxing Club Siena and Pugilistica Colligiana have been organizing boxing events of national caliber for years, based in this wonderful area which offers the best in logistics and hospitality; evidently the work was appreciated and we are considered reliable.

A special thanks to all the volunteers of the Boxing Club Siena, lovers of noble art, for their active collaboration and usual availability. A heartfelt thank you also to the entire Administration of Chianciano Terme, specifically to the mayor Andrea Marchetti and to the Councilor for Sport Fabio Nardi, always present and available, finally a sign of gratitude for the commercial partners who believed in us: a clear sign that also in Siena boxing is loved and followed: I smile thinking back to the words spoken a few years ago by a local politician. For the President of Pugilistica Colligiana, Cucini, organizing the Italian Scoolboy and Junior Championships is a further demonstration that “the collaboration between Pugilistica Colligiana and Boxing Club Siena is fundamental to bring such important events to the Siena area”.

At the end of the finals, scheduled for Sunday 21st from 2pm to 6pm, Mattia Cucini, Jacopo Temperini and Arted Borici for Pugilistica Colligiana will also enter the ring, as well as Marius Darie and Romeo Ghini for the Boxing Club Siena. For Borici it will be a return to the sixteen strings after more than ten years of absence; Cucini, a promising young athlete from Valdelsa, returning from a long and annoying injury, will be able to test the new weight category. If Darie is called upon to promptly redeem himself after the last match, played well below his capabilities, Temperini and Ghini will work to maintain their current unbeaten record and build a personal record based on boxing quality.
