BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Extraordinary maintenance works to restore the flow conditions of some waterways in the Cesena area, altered by last May’s flood. In particular, the Borello, Fanante and Pisciatello streams are affected. The works concern river sections that cross five municipalities: Cesena, Mercato Saraceno, Montiano, Roncofreddo and Sarsina. They are financed by the Region with a total of 500 thousand euros, 250 thousand in 2024 and the same amount next year. “After the flood, construction sites continue for the safety of rivers and waterways, including minor ones – states Irene Priolo, vice-president of the Region with responsibility for Civil Protection -.
This is an important commitment, to be pursued with determination for a full return to normality”. The works on the Borello stream began from Campiano, in the municipality of Sarsina, with the aim of removing the occlusions and fallen trees, which reduce hydraulic efficiency. They will continue, always on the same stream, between the localities of Borello, in the municipality of Cesena and Bora, in the municipality of Mercato Saraceno. Here the selective mowing of the vegetation will be carried out, the occlusions, reprofiling carried out and the defenses restored in boulders damaged by the flood. On the Fanante stream, in the homonymous locality of the municipality of Sarsina, maintenance will affect a stretch of approximately 500 metres. The gravel sediments will be moved to restore the riverbed of the watercourse in its original location, fixing the deviations caused by the flood.On the Pisciatello stream, the works affect the hilly stretch between Calisese and Molino di Casale to restore the erosions of the slope. Obstructions will be removed, reprofiling will be carried out and the reconstruction of boulder defenses will be carried out, in addition to mowing and vegetation cutting operations in the territories of the municipalities of Cesena, Montiano, Roncofreddo.
