«Railway line between Lecco and Como closed for works in the three summer months without the knowledge of commuters»

The closure of the Como-Lecco railway line during the three summer months without the knowledge of commuters and their committees falls like a tile on one’s head. In fact, Trenord declared in response to a regional question that the trains will stop for 90 days to carry out work on the route and to replace the railway trains. Raffaele Erba, provincial coordinator of the 5 Star Como Movement, declares: «Nothing is known about the maintenance works that will have to be carried out but above all nothing is known about what will be implemented to contain the inconveniences linked to the total closure of the line. Only following an inquiry carried out by the 5 Star Movement in the Lombardy Region was it possible to learn of the suspension of the line for three months. A stop which, if not managed carefully, risks heavily penalizing workers and commuters. For this reason – continues Erba -, through our regional councilors, we will file a further question to clarify the interruption of the transport service in order to avoid unwanted inconveniences. We want to know what the specific interventions planned will be and above all what the alternative means of transport will be made available to users.”
