TRIESTE. The Minister of the Interior has requested an intensification of police services at a national level in conjunction with the Easter holidays, for which a significant increase in the movement of people is expected and in light of the international crises, exacerbated by the attack in Moscow.

In this context, the State Police has set up territorial control services which have been disengaged from the various specialties of the State Police (Police Headquarters, postal, railway, road and land and maritime border police), as well as from the Public Security police stations of Duino Aurisina and Muggia.

In particular, the service, directed by the Chief Commissioner of the State Police, Dr. Sebastiano Maione, involved the use of more than 50 State Police operators and ensured widespread control throughout the province of Trieste, through the preparation of control and surveillance posts on objectives such as bus stations, railway stations, post offices, shopping centers, high-flow road junctions in and out of Trieste, border crossings, passenger terminals of the cruise port and the new port of Trieste. The checks in the city center involved various squares, where illegal acts have occurred in the past, including Piazza Goldoni, Piazza del Perugino, Piazza Garibaldi, Campo San Giacomo, Viale XX Settembre, public garden, Piazza Oberdan.

During the service, almost a thousand people were identified, many of whom were foreigners; Over 200 vehicles and some tourist buses were checked. Approximately thirty public businesses were inspected.

During the service, a person was found at a bar in Via Ponziana who was arrested and taken to the Coroneo prison as the recipient of a prison order from the Turin Prosecutor’s Office to serve a prison term of 2 years and 5 months for drug dealing. narcotics. Furthermore, 4 irregular migrants were traced, of which two were immediately rejected in Slovenia and one unaccompanied foreign minor. One was reported for violating the Authority’s order. Around twenty administrative fines were imposed for violation of the Highway Code, in particular one for driving with an expired license and 5 for driving without a seat belt
