(LaPresse) The State Police of Venice has implemented a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of the Court of Venice against 7 individuals, all burdened by criminal records and of foreign origin and mostly homeless. Specifically, 5 received a precautionary custody measure in prison and two received a ban on residence in the Veneto Region. The subjects are held responsible for more than ten aggravated robberies in Mestre within the Quadrilatero of via Piave. The investigation activity, directed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Venice, made it possible to gather serious indications of guilt against the seven subjects under investigation who carried out their criminal conduct at night against unaware passers-by, many of whom were people who had gone out from the workplace. The robberies were committed by threatening, and in some cases beating and injuring the victims with edged weapons. The investigative reconstruction was based on municipal video surveillance images as well as on the testimonies of citizens who had witnessed the robberies.
