Princess Anne arrived at the abbey in trousers: an exception granted only to her to honor her service in the army. In fact, at the coronation she wears military uniform, complete with a hat with a plume and a green velvet cloak. The uniform, completed by white gloves, is decorated with all medals. It is not new to see the princess in her trousers: she too obtained the same dispensation several months ago for the funeral of her mother Elizabeth. Her cloak is very different from that of other royals: the green color represents the Order of the Thistle, William’s dark blue velvet one belongs to the Order of the Garter, while Kate and Sophie’s sapphire one refers to the Order of St Patrick.
