Andrea Piazzolla returns once again to the Court of Rome accused of having tricked Gina Lollobrigida. Today, 26 June, a new hearing took place linked to the matter in which he is accused, together with a Roman restaurateur, for an affair linked to the auctioning of the assets of the actress who passed away last 16 January. Piazzolla, the diva’s former factotum, has already been sentenced to three years in the first instance. Same accusation, but linked to some assets that he allegedly stole from the actress’s assets from 2013 to 2018. Today the man agreed to undergo the examination before the judges of Piazzale Clodio. And he further maintained that a sincere and reciprocated affection linked him to Lollobrigida: «I have always considered Gina as a mother. If you lived well until the end, a small part of the credit also goes to the attention you received from me.”

Piazzolla’s version

According to Piazzolla (now 37), the decision to auction off the assets was entirely the former film star’s. The auction took place in 2020: in that period the man lived at the home of “Mrs. Lollobrigida” together with her partner. The actress would in fact have welcomed both “like children”. Piazzolla, therefore, said he witnessed the selection of the goods to be disposed of, as well as their withdrawal. On the other hand, according to her, it had become “dangerous” for Lollobrigida to keep those valuable pieces in the house, for fear of incursions by thieves.

The accusations

The sales orders, as reconstructed by the magistrates, concern “memorabilia, art objects, antiquities, precious items, furniture, works of art with a minimum estimated value of 300 thousand euros”. What they defined as an “orchestrated spoliation”, carried out – again according to the prosecution – also thanks to the contribution of a friend of Piazzolla, the aforementioned restaurateur, who was also accused and present in the courtroom today. The actress’s former factotum, however, claimed to have no “auction skills: the world of art is a world that doesn’t belong to me”. And again: «Gina, when she learned that the judicial administrator wanted to do an inventory, she went into a rage and also because of the renovation work that had to be carried out. She asked the owner of the house to look after her goods and she signed the sales orders.”

The story

In that period, four years ago, Lollobrigida’s residence on the Appia Antica would have had to undergo renovation work. For this reason, the actress would have thought of depositing her most precious belongings in a warehouse. Some time later, however, those same possessions appeared in the catalog of the Colasanti auction house. This was discovered by Stefano Agamennone, the support administrator appointed by the Court: it is from him that the complaint that today brings Piazzolla back to Piazzale Clodio originates. The judges’ final word will come in October, with the requests from the Prosecutor’s Office and the subsequent sentence.
