twenty-six passengers expelled by police for “inappropriate behavior”

An accident on board a flight easyJet bound for Faro, Portugal, led to the deportation of 26 passengers by the police. The flight, originally scheduled to depart from Glasgow, was significantly delayed due to the incident.

The plane was due to land in Faro just before 4.30pm on Thursday. However, due to an accident reported on board, the police were called to intervene at the gate. Officers removed 26 men from the flight, causing a delay of at least two and a half hours.

Chaos on the easyJet flight

An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, reported by The Sun, explaining that the group of passengers had been expelled for disruptive behaviour. “We can confirm that a group of passengers due to travel on EZY3163 from Glasgow to Faro last night were denied boarding before take-off and were deported by police due to disruptive behaviour,” the spokesperson said.

easyJet cabin and ground staff are trained to handle such situations to ensure the safety of the flight and other passengers. “Although such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior towards our staff,” he added.

A Police Scotland spokesperson provided further details on the incident: «At around 5.10pm on Thursday 20 June 2024, officers were called to reports of a disturbance on board a plane departing for Portugal. The police helped the aircraft staff to remove 26 men from the plane.”
