The Roman Summer has already begun and lasts four months. The “special” season of cultural events returns in the form of music, literature, theatre, dance, cinema, art and meetings distributed between the Capitoline center and the suburbs in a calendar that extends well beyond the astronomical one. Since yesterday and until October 15th the summer event promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital in collaboration with Lea-Liberi Editori Autori and Siae, will involve citizens and tourists with a plurality of offers that from big festivals arrives at small events on a neighborhood scale, reconfirming dozens of events that have become traditional.
A capital of cinema
For cinema, while the 10th edition of the The Cinema in the Square of the Piccolo America Foundation in four different locations, 15 winning projects of the Capitoline tender for the summer arenasof which 12 have free admission, from San Lorenzo to Monteverde. The screen is set up among the trees of Villa Borghese where the summer programming of the House of Cinema will continue until 8 September, the 1000-seat auditorium returns to the Parco degli Acquedotti Rome Cinema Arena (from 4 to 25 July) in Tor Bella Monaca the open-air cinema is in via dell’Archeologia (from 1 to 17 July). There will also be cinema in the district of Santa Maria della Pietà with Next Generation Eu funded project (from 8 to 26 July) oa Corviale in the Renato Nicolini Library (from 15 to 24 July).
The demonstrations starting
Winners of the 2023-24 biennial tender, many events kick off in these days: Multiple Crossingsa multidisciplinary festival curated by Margine Operativo is at the Torre del Fiscale Park until 29 June, Villa Ada Festival returns to the gardens of via Salaria with musical events and beyond until late August, «Città Foresta – Le Cosmicomiche», the traveling participatory art festival involving five different neighborhoods for a third edition (17 June-27 September).
Traditional festivals
Piazza Gianicolo is back, proposed by Cotton Club and Scomodo between art, music, co-working and workshops for children, while at Pigneto it is «Bande de Femmes» feminist comics festival to liven up the night (from 29 June to 6 July). Appointments with the Travel Literature Festival at Villa Celimontanathe one with the Gardens of Philharmonic for music and culture from the world, the one with the Fuori Programma contemporary dance festival.
Poets and heroes of Rome
Between July and October the calendar continues full between Home of Jazz«Ponte Lupo, the Giant of Water» festival of the Agro Romano Antico, «Semprepiù Fuori Festival» at the German Academy created by Cranpi, the Eco Logical Theater Festival «Hamlet in the square» but also «Rome, the great: poets and heroes between word and power» at the Ara Pacis Auditorium. Also inside the Roman Summer: Rebibbia Festival, Agorà – Theater and Music at Radici, Villa Lazzaroni Summer Festival or collaborations with large institutions such as for the festivals: Literature, Caracalla, Video city, Summer in Santa Cecilia, Short Theater or Romaeuropa. There will be around 150 events for the sixth edition of Tevere Day scheduled for October.
