Up close, no one is normal, tops and flops: Paola and Chiara let loose

In the third and final episode of Up close, no one is normalthe program hosted by Alessandro Cattelan on Rai2 Monday 3 June, many guests take to the stage at the Franco Parenti Theater in Milan to give a worthy conclusion to the new television format, perhaps the most innovative and entertaining of recent years. How not to mention Paola and Chiara which give a lot of energy, positivity and even a small gaffe; Diodate singing “What a Wonderful Life” in the pool; Diletta Leotta which is told between private life and career; Arisa crashed a wedding; and the footballer Nicolò Zaniolo, protagonist of a little game outside the theater. Let’s discover together the worst and best moments of the live broadcast.

Up close no one is normal, episode 3 June 2024: the tops

We give the first top to Paola and Chiara for the incredible vitality they exude every time they go on stage, and this evening too they are no exception, leading the audience (they sing and dance with her, even doing the official steps of the songs) to let loose with them. And then the incredible spontaneity of the two sisters is also to be praised, and it is also evident when Chiara lets slip a spoiler about a future project, even if nothing is yet known about the event itself. “We’re connected to karaoke somehow because of something we did“, says the person concerned, while Paola clarifies: “She’s the queen of spoilers, we can’t actually talk about it“. In any case we will see some good ones, also considering that this evening they have already set the stage on fire in just a few minutes.

Also Arisa deserves long applause for his wonderful and touching foray into the wedding of two perfect strangers, Salem and Emanuela. The artist, in addition to finding it strange that she is still single, even though her songs are the most “popular” at weddings, arousing some laughter due to the irony of fate, enchants the audience (and the newlyweds) with the song Wonderful my loveperfect for the occasion and so profound that it moved Emanuela to tears.

The idea of. is promoted Gyromanie, the most hilarious moments of the entire program and the one that really shows how close no one is normal. Not only do we discover many little quirks and quirks of the studio audience – among other things, we might even recognize ourselves in some of these, which can only strengthen the interest of viewers – but we see for the first time these latter protagonists of a program is something new, original and intriguing. An excellent idea that we hope will find a space in the schedule next year too (a few more episodes wouldn’t hurt either).

We give the last top to Alessandro Cattelanin particular for his way of leading the whole show: always breezy, honest and true. He overwhelms everyone with his spontaneity, he puts his guests at the center of attention, he moves from one side of the stage to the other, the audience and the theater itself at speed, he often addresses the audience suddenly and is a constant surprise, because with him it’s really difficult to understand what awaits us, and that’s what the public ultimately wants: someone who is able to entertain from the first to the last minute in an intelligent and unexpected way.

Up close, no one is normal: flops

We give the first flop to the authors of the program: it is certainly not Diodato’s fault if he is given little space, but someone needs to be told. Compared to the other guests, protagonists of sketches, games and challenges, the singer-songwriter is given just enough time to sing the song What a wonderful life – among other things, Diodato excites quite a bit – because it is true that he appears for a few minutes looking out of a window, but the gist doesn’t change: we only experience the show in the swimming pool, and the usual short final chat is also missing.

We also fail Diletta Leottabecause when she answers the host’s questions she does so in a very vague way, so much so that we don’t know anything more than what has already been stated recently, except that she is a bit of a control freak and therefore doesn’t know if she will be able to “to let go” daughter Aria Rose when the time comes. We would like her to expose herself a little more, without revealing who knows what details, but telling us something less banal, new and more personal. We must recognize, however, that she is surprising in how she reacts to the social joke by Matteo Varini, keeping calm and laughing at what happens despite the Social Media Manager’s constant and extravagant requests, and for her spontaneity and smile always on her face (motherhood and future marriage are really good for her).

It also disappointsidea of the curtain call with Nicolò Zaniolo: the footballer, after the injury, arrives on stage to talk about his quirks and then finds himself in the swimming pool, where he has to pose as if he were kicking a ball (actually thrown by Cattelan) which some men have to block. We ask ourselves why not invent something else for the guest, perhaps something that Zaniolo could do himself. It would be fairer to the guest, although it must be said that he has fun while choosing the poses and that he doesn’t lack courage: in the end he decides to take a shot personally, but is it sensible to allow him to risk his problem getting worse?
