Princess Beatrice of England’s ex-boyfriend, Paolo Liuzzo, was found dead in a hotel room in Miami, Florida. He was 43 years old.
According to the authorities, the cause of death – which occurred over two months ago, but has only now been made known – may have been an overdose.
According to the New York Post, Miami police were called to Liuzzo’s room at 3.22pm on February 7 and the 43-year-old was declared dead 12 minutes later. The funeral would be held 9 days later, in New York, his hometown.
Liuzzo and Princess Beatrice – eldest daughter of Andrew, Duke of York and younger brother of King Charles III, and Sarah Ferguson – dated for about a year in 2005, when she was 17 and he was 24.
Liuzzo had previously been arrested for fraud and possession of cocaine.
Princess Beatrice is today married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, with whom she had her daughter Sienna Elizabeth, who is now two years old.
According to what was reported by the English tabloids, which cite sources close to the Royal House, the princess would be “very saddened” by the death of her ex-boyfriend.
