Fiorello and the monologue on Liberation
No break for Fiorello on the occasion of 25 April which, indeed, represented a further opportunity to return to talking about the recent political events that have shaken Rai. The Sicilian comedian – flanked by the inevitable Biggio and Casciari – opened today’s episode of Long live Rai 2 right with a monologue on Liberation: “Celebration of those who defend freedom, of those who respect it, of those who are free and of those who know that freedom is also a duty, the duty to honor this privilege“. In his message Fiorello then clarified how it is a national holiday that everyone must join in memory of the resistance to Nazi-fascism: “We believe that beyond political ideas, today we must celebrate all those who for they fought for this freedom and sacrificed themselves.”
The digs at Rai
Today’s episode of Long live Rai 2needless to say, was great jab to the Rai top management. Already in the last few days Fiorello he had taken the defense of Serena Bortone and Antonio Scurati (whose monologue on anti-fascism was “blocked” by Viale Mazzini and then read by the presenter) and yesterday he had returned the political criticism to the sender by declaring “indignant“. With the usual irony, even today Fiorello returned to pinch state TV: “A survey revealed that 72% of Italians feel anti-fascist. Do you know what the remaining 28% do? Send your CV to Rai!
