For the first time ever for Netflix Italiaan Italian original published by the platform, debuted in first place in the international ranking of the most viewed films on the on-demand streaming platform Netflix.
We are talking about Maker of Tears, the young adult romantic drama based on the novel of the same name by the writer known under the pseudonym Erin Doom: as also reported by Variety, it is the first Netflix Italian original to reach first place in the global ranking of the streamer’s films in the non-English language category.
The film, directed by Alessandro Genovesi, is released worldwide on Netflix on April 4th and has since rapidly climbed the streaming giant’s global charts, and has been in Netflix’s No. 1 non-English-language films slot for two weeks now. Played by Caterina Ferioli and Simone Baldasseroni, Maker of Tears has managed to win over international viewersand the producers can now celebrate: “First of all, we would like to thank the leaders of Netflix who once again believed in a story, the result of Italian creativity, capable of truly addressing an international audience. This success, which follows the others we had already achieved on the same streaming service, it is an important signal for all Italian cinema and a testament to the talent and expertise of the people working in this sector in our country”.
