“Satire is like going to the gym, a positive effort”

That of Arianna Porcelli Safonov is one of the most interesting names in the Italian artistic panorama. Crystalline, pure, uncontaminated talent. As well as an uncommon attention to detail and language. His are not comic monologues. Let’s be clear, we laugh, and a lot. But her satire leads those who listen to her to reflect. And, inevitably, to grow.

Arianna, how would you define yourself?

“I can’t call myself an actress because I haven’t studied a single day for this. Writing is the only thing I can do, so I divulge my thoughts. So I would say I write.”

After studying in Rome she went to Madrid, where she hosted a television program. How did it end from Madrid to Oltrepo Pavese?

“I needed to be on my own for a bit, the Oltrepo Pavese is about seventy kilometers from Milan. A distance that doesn’t seem so far, but which instead is if you consider that in the area where I lived there is no it was really nothing citizen”.

In each of his shows and monologues there is a very rigorous choice of words. How difficult is it to choose the language to use?

“There is an emptying of language. Many, despite themselves, no longer know how to speak Italian. There is a certain difficulty in finding sources. On the other hand, however, so much weight is given only to certain words. When I It happens that I write a monologue and I have difficulty intercepting and blocking the voice inside me that says to be careful, that something could disturb a certain part of the public”.

Anyone who satirizes like you encounters many difficulties…

“No one knows how to listen to satire anymore, the public is no longer trained. Satire is tiring both for those who do it and for those who listen to it. But it’s a good effort, like the one you do in the gym. Even finding the context in bringing shows of this kind is increasingly difficult. But I do it because there is hunger, the public thanks me for that effort. It is no longer a show, but it is almost a political job. We all work together, even with the public “.

She will be today, Thursday 27 June, at 8pm at the Beauty Festival at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. What should anyone who comes to attend one of your shows expect?

“To think. We always laugh, but we reflect, we also think.”

How is one of your monologues born?

“I take inspiration from what happens around me, from the obsessions of human beings. Life and reality inspire me.”

Who are his teachers?

“The comedian Daniele Luttazzi and David Sedaris, an American writer who has the ability to tell the ordinary, transforming it into the extraordinary”.

A dream of yours?

“I wish I had time to be able to write my third book.”
