Color diet, ask a doctor if it’s right for you, it’s becoming popular – ilciriaco.it

We must necessarily start from a basic assumption. The best diet ever is the one that an expert on the subject gives youmeeting you and talking to understand what your lifestyle is, smoothing out the edges but above all visiting you.

For everything else there is a trend to know and discover, perhaps before going to a nutritionist to understand if the diet you discovered (perhaps from a friend of yours) can actually also be used for your body and your mind.

The color diet and healthy eating. 5 to 9 servings of fruit and vegetables a day

The diet that continues to be the most popular is naturally the Mediterranean one: appreciated by those looking for a heart-healthy diet, favorable for diabetes but also for joints. The important thing is not to confuse Americanized Mediterranean menus with healthy eating.

Alongside the Mediterranean Diet, which remains number one (always subject to medical advice), the so-called Color Diet is becoming very fashionable, an intelligent way to make you eat fruit and vegetables. Use the principles of the “Savor the Spectrum” program from the National Cancer Institute in 2002, which promotes healthy eating by suggesting that people eat five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

Inspired by the concept that colorful foods are healthy, it focuses – precisely – on the colors of the day. On the first day we focus on white foods and those foods that contain anthoxanthins, which can lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

On the second day, go with the red, with all those foods that contain lycopene, which can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Third day dedicated to green foods that are healthy carriers of chlorophyll and in some cases lutein: they help reduce cataracts. Fourth day colored orange: all foods with carotenoids, which help eye health, reduce the risk of some cancers, help prevent heart disease and improve the immune system.

In the fifth, everything edible that is purple dominates: foods containing anthocyanins, antioxidants that protect cells from damage. In the sixth yellow, very similar to orange. Last but not least, a beautiful rainbow of colours. All this with the aim of losing weight and maintaining it, up to improving your complexion. Does it tickle your imagination? Visit a doctor and ask him if it’s right for you…
