«We have the phones under surveillance»

GENOA The hypothesis of a mole among the investigators. And an investigative lead that appears really solid: both the Shoo Aldo Spinelli – «eee…we have the phones under control» – as the brothers Arturo Angelo Testa and Italo Maurizio Testa, members of Forza Italia in Lombardy and suspended from the party since Monday, knew they were being intercepted. The Genoa Prosecutor’s Office has opened a case for disclosure of official secrecy as part of the investigation into the business and corruption committee which led to the arrest of the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti.

The case, against unknown persons, was registered in the light of what emerged from environmental interceptions. It’s September 30, 2020. The Testa brothers come to Genoa to meet some people from the Riesi community. A man wearing a sweatshirt and hat approaches that meeting. «It is recognized in Umberto Lo Grasso (Toti’s city councilor). Who says to Italo Testa: «You see they are investigating, don’t name names and don’t talk on the phone. They are investigating.” In response, Italo Maurizio Testa states: «Yes, I know, don’t worry. I stutated him («turned off» in Sicilian dialect, ed.)”.

This conduct, writes the judge for preliminary investigations Paola Faggioni, «thereby appears to integrate the crime of personal aiding and abetting, as the aforementioned person warned the Testa brothers not to speak on the phone as investigations were underway (“they are investigating”) – provided help in favor of the aforementioned brothers to evade the investigations against them» . But who warned Lo Grasso? One hypothesis is that there is indeed a mole since Stefano Anzalone, also a Totiano and investigated in the investigation, is a former policeman who therefore has connections among the police. The other hypothesis is that it could be a sort of boasting by Anzalone himself, who after the elections wanted to get the Testa brothers away and not honor the promises made in exchange for the votes.

Sciò clarifies «therefore the intention to limit direct telephone contact with Signorini, inviting him to breakfast, and then speaking to him personally (“we really need to tell the truth… I’m calling you because you know about that affair that she and I are having (he’s referring to his girlfriend) of eee…we have the phones under surveillance, we know that we have the phones under surveillance…so it’s enough to say little or nothing to each other…I tell him, see you at breakfast…that’s all!”). Signorini is worried. The papers say that «in several passages he tried to understand what Spinelli’s certainty of being subjected to telephone interception derived from or whether this possibility had been reported» to Svò’s girlfriend: «he told you…you knew daaa».

And again “but do they have them?”. Spinelli shakes his head: “They didn’t tell her anything, they can’t tell her anything.” It’s not over. For the investigators «the above highlighted Spinelli’s fear of being exposed to possible investigations
(“the police called her”
and again “because then they do… investigate and then pass it on to the judge”) the close private relationship established with Signorini”. The reference to the military personnel of the Carabinieri remains to be understood: and perhaps it is yet another investigation.
