Buzzi Unicem was involved in an artistic project that led to the creation of a sculpture in Veneto. The Monselice plant (Padua) has in fact supported the project “Artibus, the future has roots in the past” conceived and promoted by the Augusta Contrada of Marendole, in collaboration with LABOR – European Labor Union, the professional agricultural association Futuro Agricoltura ( financed by the Veneto Region with funds from the Ministry of Productive Activities) by donating limestone material for the creation of a sculpture workshop within the factory aimed at young people.
One of the pieces was worked freehand by Antonio Leone, a Syracuse sculptor who has lived in Padua for years to remember the victims of the Covid 19 pandemic, but also the health workers and voluntary associations who worked with dedication to alleviate their suffering. The limestone block has become a sculpture titled ‘2020’. On Saturday 12 April, in the presence of the municipal authorities of Mestrino and Monselice and regional, provincial, military and religious authorities, the work was placed in the square in front of the Town Hall of Mestrino (Padua).
