Codacons returns to the attack on the Falsissimo case. After the complaint against Big Brother and the request for suspension of the program, the consumer protection association today filed a new document with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Milan. This time Fabrizio Corona’s format comes under direct scrutiny, in relation to his accusation of having spread possible intimate material without consent. At Fanpage.it, Vincenzo Rienzi of Codacons explains the complaint: “It is against unknown persons, we are not making a particular accusation against anyone.” And on the matter: “It’s too early to form an opinion. First of all, we need to let those who are appointed to do their job do their job, in these cases the Public Prosecutor’s Office is certainly doing it well. I hope that the news is not confirmed, because it would be frustrating for the public.”
The complaint for revenge porn
The deed filed by Codacons reports “facts potentially constituting the crime of illicit dissemination of sexually explicit images or videos“, provided for by article 612-ter of the penal code, better known as revenge porn. Not only that: they are also contested “further profiles of criminal offenses and possible violations of the legislation on the protection of personal data, with reference to the dissemination of intimate images”.
“The act concerns the unauthorized dissemination of content of an intimate nature and its dissemination through digital platforms and widely disseminative channels”we read in the official note. Codacons and the Association of Radio and Television Service Users were the offended parties in the proceedings.

Contacted by Fanpage.it, the lawyer Vincenzo Rienzi of Codacons clarified the scope of the legal action: “The complaint is always against unknown persons, we do not formulate an accusation in particular against anyone. It is for the crime of revenge porn and for the violation of article 144 bis of the privacy code, always linked to the defense of image”.
When we ask him what his thoughts are on the matter, Rienzi prefers caution: “It’s a little early to form an opinion. We must first of all let those who are appointed to do their job do their job, in these cases the Public Prosecutor’s Office is certainly doing it well. We must wait for the Prosecutor’s Office to ascertain whether there is a crime of sexual violence, whether there is that of revenge porn. They have many more investigative elements than us, who act as spokespersons for the community based on what is made available to us by the media.”
“I hope the news is not confirmed”
Despite professional prudence, the lawyer does not hide his concerns: “I hope that the journalistic reports that have been made public are not confirmed, because for our young people, for those who follow television programs, for the people on social media, it would be somewhat frustrating news.”
On Corona’s method and his communication style, Rienzi maintains a third-party position: “I do not express my personal opinions about other people. I believe that everyone has the right to provide information, as provided for in Article 21 of the Constitution. The important thing is that they do not violate the law and the penal code. Everyone can provide information as they wish.”
Pressed on the possibility that Corona is acting more out of personal interest than for the right to the press, the lawyer weighs his words: “The important thing is that it is not done only for one’s own personal gain, but also for the right to the press, which is as important as, or rather perhaps more important than, personal gain. I can’t honestly tell you why Corona does it, but I hope that it does it for both reasons and not just for personal gain.”
