Rat men, from Timothée Chalamet to Ghali who are the “victim” artists of the new trend. But there are those who argue: this is bodyshaming

Pronounced nose and ears, angular features, thin, tall bodies and a “heart” shaped mouth. These are the characteristics of the so-called «rodent man», i.e. «mouse men», which according to social networks and various foreign magazines are the new beauty icons. The trend was born on social networks in 2023, but returned to mobile homes after the publication of the video Emily Ratajkowskiwhere he praises the courage of “rodent men” and highlights the lack of quality men taller than 1.80 m.

The model’s video created a heated discussion in the comments, where many people underlined how, in their opinion, calling actors like “rodent man” Timothée Chalamet and consider such singers as Ghali is, in reality, a form of bodyshaming.

The phenomenon

Timothée Chalamet, Josh O’Connor, Jeremy Allen White and Ghali are just a few examples reported by US tabloids of artists who resemble the characteristics of “rat men”. They are not considered sex symbols only for their physical appearance, but also for their character. According to the trend, men who resemble mice are a bit “strange” and funny. Characteristics that, according to celebrities and gossip magazines, would attract women.

«It’s bodyshaming»

Not everyone, however, seems to agree with the characteristics of this “latest fad”. Some users wanted to share their opinion under the analysis published on Instagram by Thats Fab, explaining how judging artists in this way would not actually be a compliment, but rather “bodyshaming”.

Some girls wrote: «We are the first to be victims of bodyshaming and it’s time to put a stop to it. Even when it comes to men. People shouldn’t feel judged in this way.” Other women, however, commented: «We do body shaming for everything. We criticize people for every single thing. It’s time to say enough, this trend is unhealthy.”
