The athlete was struck by cerebral ischemia two years ago, from which he recovered only after a long period of rehabilitation. In recent days it was Tacconi himself who announced the surgery: “Now even if I feel better and am able to walk again, my ordeal is not over yet. The last visits I made showed blood clots, ‘thrombi’, in the legs and in the aorta vein. They have to open me up and sort me out. They promised me that then I will be as good as new.”
After the rupture of an aneurysm that affected him in April 2022, Tacconi was transferred from the hospital in Asti to that of Alessandria, where he then continued with rehabilitation until March 2023. Subsequently Tacconi was followed in various facilities in other regions . The illness struck him while he was in Asti for a charity event.

The illness forced him to undergo numerous operations and a long rehabilitation process between the Alessandria hospital and the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza facility in San Giovanni Rotondo.
