When it comes to Harry and Meghan and the royal family, it is difficult for every little issue to go unnoticed. Therefore, the move that the English royal family has made in recent weeks has not gone unnoticed either to distance ourselves even further by the former working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Like the rest of the family members, Harry and Meghan both had their own individual biographies on the royal family website, royal.uk. However, the site has recently been updated for remove individual biographies of Harry and Meghan and provide them with a joint biography. They are now listed simply as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But not only. As a matter of fact, a preface has also been added which reads: “As announced in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have retired as working members of the Royal Family. The couple married in St George’s Chapel, in Windsor on 19 May 2018 and has two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”
Together with the introductory statement, their joint bio page includes a section on Harry, Meghan and, finally, on their decision to step away from their duties. The page states: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not return as working members of the Royal Family, but will ‘remain much loved members of the family’.” Harry and Meghan’s children were also affected by the change of the website, albeit more drastically. Archie and Lilibet’s biographies have been completely removed.
The Palace did not comment on why this change was made. However, it seems that the decision to make some changes to the website had already been under discussion for some time. According to a statement received from Express in August 2023 , Buckingham Palace said that “the Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family. Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the contents have been revisited and are updated periodically. Some content may not be updated until the process is complete.”
