Carlo has cancer, health conditions. The King challenges the doctors and does what he wants – About Her
Descriptive text here

Despite the cancer, Carlo he has no intention of giving up the trip to Samoa where he has to meet the heads of state of the Commonwealth. Even if this means going against medical advice and put his own life at risk. The King is the son of Elizabeth II and it shows. In fact, the Queen placed duty and loyalty to the Crown above all else.

Carlo, forced to disregard the doctors’ advice

The rumor has been circulating for some time that Carlo doesn’t want to give up first trip as King to Australia and New Zealand. The tour is fundamental for him not only for the high symbolic value it has but also for the institutional meetings that will be held there. In short, Carlo feels obliged to undertake this tour, it wouldn’t be a whim for him, but there is too much at stake not to be able to attend.

In fact, in Samoa it is scheduled for next October 21st the meeting of Commonwealth heads of state and it is essential that Charles or his deputy also participates. Unfortunately, however, no one from the Royal Family can take his place, as a source close to the Palace explained: “Participating in the Commonwealth meeting it’s not something William can deal with right now due to Kate’s health, and although Anna and the other Royals are doing a great job stepping in to stand in for the King at events in Britain, they are not considered up to the task of representing the sovereign as leader of the Commonwealth“.

For this reason His Majesty decided to go to Samoa anyway, even if the doctors advised against it. In fact, the specialists who are following Carlo in his cancer therapy have already spoken out against very long journeys which would tire him too much and expose him to the risk of infections. Carlo is aware of this and now that he is feeling a little better, he is pushing for the treatment to be speeded up, so as to be ready for departure in the autumn.

But although he is responding positively to the therapy, the results are still unpredictable. However, Carlo is adamant, he feels forced to leave, even if this trip undermines his future.

His assistants still have to do an inspection to plan Charles and Camilla’s visit. The visit to Samoa is expected to follow the official tour of Australia and New Zealand. At the moment the Palace has left it on the agenda, but remains open to any possibility, even if the King has no intention of giving up, not even with the contrary opinion of the doctors. The Sovereign in fact considers this meeting crucial to maintaining Australia’s membership of the Commonwealth.

Carlo, William cannot replace him

In fact, the Palace source declared: “King Charles’ presence at both the Commonwealth meeting and in Australia is seen as decisive in preserving the unity of the Commonwealth”.

He added: “Although doctors advise against long-distance travel, especially due to the time difference which can weaken him, the King remains resolute in his decision to undertake the journey.” All this because no one can replace him and the fact that William is out of the picture and half available due to Kate’s illness, makes the Monarchy even weaker.
