“They removed my ovaries, but I could still have children. I would like to become a mother”

It is an unpublished and intimate story that Emma he made himself known to Nicolò De Vitiis, correspondent for the Le Iene programme. The discovery of ovarian cancer and the surgery

Emma’s notoriety arrived in 2010 thanks to program Friends of Maria De Filppi, where he arrived first. The audition, however, went terribly because at the time the singer was going through a particularly delicate period: “I was in a difficult, complicated phase. I was still recovering physically from the first cancer that had struck me in that period, aI also lost a little hope and faith in life in general.”

Once there she had proposed that I visit her herself, assuring me of the doctor’s skill. I saw her face change color and from there it was hell.” The singer confesses that she had fear of dying more than once. “That situation happened three times,” he revealed, until the surgery he has “actually lost my ovaries.”

“I would like to become a mother, I still might”

“I would like to become a mother knowing that all women could have the right to it, I don’t like to think that it is always and only an economic question”, Emma said about her desire to become a mother. A wish that, for the singer, could still become reality, even after the operation to remove her ovaries: “I didn’t have time to freeze my eggs because there was no more hope but I might still be able to have children. I have a uterus”. However, he claims it is one “huge asshole” the fact that single women cannot have a child through assisted reproduction without the presence of a partner: “I am 39 years old and have all the tools to be a mother: economic, psychological, family support, but since I don’t have a partner and I cannot have the right to become a mother.”

In the two days spent with the correspondent of Le Iene, Emma Father Rosario recalled, who died in September 2022 due to leukemia. It was he who encouraged her to follow her passion, accompanying her in every step: “I did the funniest and most shocking things in my life with my father. Me and him would go out drinking and we’d end up with like four gin and tonics each, we couldn’t walk home. When we came home one time, my mom gave us both a f**k.”. The relationship between the singer and her father was so close that, even today, a year and a half after her death, there are days when she is unable to see him again in her videos because she is ill. The singer still remembers perfectly the day her brother called her to tell her the bad news: “I was on the sofa, the phone rang and it was my brother. I understood everything straight away. I heard the screams of my mother and my brother saying “Chicca go home, dad’s no longer here” and then, oh well, the ‘hell”.
