THE Donatello’s David they unleash a real political case, at the center of which the name of Geppi Cucciari appears. Friday 3 May the well-known host Carlo Conti will lead the 2024 edition of the famous national awards, but the original plans would have wanted him flanked by the famous Sardinian artist, comedian, writer and presenter. This will not be the case and for a very specific reason.
Geppi Cucciari excluded from the Davids
After having commented on the appointments, we return to talking about Donatello’s David for an excellent exclusion, that of Geppi Cucciari. On the evening of May 3rd you will not see her on stage alongside Carlo Conti. He will instead have these as companions Alessia Marcuzzi and Fabrizio Biggio.

According to Rai sources, however, the hiring of the Sardinian actress was blocked at the last moment by the high spheres of politics”.

The weekly then wonders if she is not too “subversive” for the executive, which has set foot in the Rai offices in one way or another (as every government does, after all).
At the moment, Rai has preferred not to comment on this indiscretion, which does not only concern the great key event. Geppi Cucciari won’t take he didn’t even take part in the meeting of the candidates at the Quirinale with President Mattarella. He should have led this phase on the morning of May 3, but Teresa Mannino will be there in his place.
One more exclusion
It is not the first time in 2024 that there has been talk of Geppi Cucciari’s exclusion from Rai. The first concerns the Sanremo Festival, in the latest edition of Amadeus, unless there are second thoughts. Alberto Dandolo himself had told of a bad mood of the Rai 3 presenter.
She would have been burned by Amadeus’ decision to call Teresa Mannino on stage and not her. It was the Sicilian comedian who once again had the upper hand, which leads some to hypothesize that her communication style is less “risky” from a political point of view. Cucciari’s unpredictability would instead represent a risk.
In this scenario, it is easy to think like the feared hypothesis of her host Sanremo 2025, alone or alongside Stefano De Martino, is to be considered shipwrecked. We therefore return to hypothesize a sort of political censorship, as in the case of Virginia Raffaele, targeted for imitating Beatrice Venezi.
No concrete evidence, just rumors, from which the minister Sangiuliano distances itself forcefully. To AdnKronos he in fact declared: “I am ready to sue anyone who tells these fantasies. As a conservative liberal, I oppose any form of censorship. I consider Geppi Cucciari very good at her work and I wish her great success, achieving all the goals she aspires to.”
An official denial note was also released through the undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni. A previous agreement between Rai and the Accademia del Cinema Italiano Foundation is clarified in these lines: “In mid-January, Rai and the Accademia del Cinema Italiano Foundation had already identified the name of Alessia Marcuzzi as co-host of the David di Donatello award ceremony 2024 together with Carlo Conti. I find it in bad taste that, in order to make political controversy, the name of a professional with proven experience like her is brought up.”
