Descriptive text here

Caterina Ferioli And Simone Baldasseroni (known to the public as Blond and former competitor of the 17th edition of “Friends of Maria De Filippi”) are the protagonists of the film “Maker of Tears”, available on Netflix. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Erin Doomwhich was one of the most important literary cases of recent times and has been the best-selling book in Italy in 2022. The volume, like the film, is set within the walls of an orphanage where Nica (Caterina Ferioli) grew up, a legend has always been told: that of the Fabricator of Tears, a mysterious craftsman, guilty of having fueled all the fears and anxieties that live in the hearts of men. With her is Rigel (Simone Baldasseroni), a restless and mysterious orphan.

The film talks about the difficulty of expressing one’s feelings due to great pain, are you able to express your feelings in love?
Simon: I think I’ve matured a lot from this point of view too. No doubt. Before I was always looking for games and slightly unhealthy love… Now I prefer stability with a person who is close to me and who appreciates me for who I am with strengths and weaknesses, encouraging each other. This is true love whereas before I considered love as the one that made me lose my mind or treated me badly. An adolescent vision. I made the real leap when I understood the second option.
Catherine: I’ve never had too much difficulty expressing my feelings. My ‘problem’ is trying to calibrate them. I always say that I always ‘feel’ both the good and the bad things. I still haven’t fully understood what I want. But I have a lot to give and I want to receive. There’s no rush.

Can “Manufacturer of Tears” be considered a generational mirror?
Simon: I would say partly yes if you take the core of the message. The past determines the present. So the past of two people influences the extent to which it determines how they were loved and experienced love as children and then expressed it in the future.

Catherine: This is a story about diversity. Despite the traumas of the two protagonists, we see two boys who don’t like cell phones and aren’t dressed as fashionably as their peers. Obviously we are talking about a metaphor. The author told us that many people write to her because they see themselves in the protagonist because she is shy and she is not fashionable and extroverted. I think it is necessary to show young people that there can be diversity in emotions. Not everything is an object.

How much pain can help us grow?
Simon: Pain is a school of life. That’s all. If you pay attention, sometimes there are people who we consider superficial, when you talk to them you discover that they have not experienced trauma. On the one hand you even envy them, but it’s a tasteless life. You have to taste the pain.
Catherine: It helped me a lot, I suffered a lot. I think it’s subjective, as for me the pain has helped others, it may have worsened their situation, it may have closed doors. Little by little, as you age, you can deal with problems, but you don’t have to do it right away. But the pain helps you grow a little.

Simone, what happened to Biondo?
Biondo is here (claps his hand over his heart, ed.), Biondo is always there. I’m multitasking, that’s my strength. Biondo is an artist, a person who always works hard and who has never given up. The point is perseverance. I did a talent show seven years ago, I look at myself today as a new rebirth. I never gave up although there were moments when I wondered why I should continue down this path. I tried other roads, numerous routes. Then the universe repaid me. I’m very happy about it.
