The cars we will say goodbye to in 2026

Il 2026like every new year, has a long list of new models which will only be revealed in shape or included in the official sales lists, but a good number of cars they will say goodbye to us in the coming year.

Some of these models that end production in these weeks or in 2026 have reached the natural conclusion to their career and they will be replaced by cars with different characteristics in terms of design, platform and even name. Others, however, exit the scene because they have not had the desired success.

So let’s see what they all are the cars we will say goodbye to in 2026. We have counted them almost thirtybut there may also be a few more that don’t have an official “expiration date” yet.

Alpine

The Alpine A110 is the sporty petrol coupé that is preparing to greet us by the end of 2026 and almost nine years after its debut to make way for its battery-powered heir based on the new APP battery-powered electric architecture.

The new electric Alpine A110, which will probably also be hybrid, maintains its historic name as the ideal third generation of the model and aims to confirm the qualities of lightness and agility of the famous French rear-wheel drive coupé.

Audi

Audi is preparing to retire three models in 2026, starting with the compact Audi A1 and Audi Q2, both expected to come to an end next year and ready to be replaced by a new electric compact with crossover SUV shapes and perhaps called the A2 e-tron.

End of career in 2026 also for the Audi A7 Sportback flagship, partially replaced in the role of flagship sedan by the Audi A6 and the electric A6 Sportback e-tron.

  • Audi A1: 2018-2026
  • Audi Q2: 2016-2026
  • Audi A7 Sportback: 2017-2026

BMW

BMW says goodbye to just one SUV, the X4 with combustion engines which ended its production cycle in September 2025 and which during 2026 should be replaced by the electric iX4, an SUV coupé version of the already unveiled BMW iX3 on the Neue Klasse platform.

Two niche models from the Bavarian company destined to say goodbye to us in turn are the BMW Z4 and the BMW 8 Series which will end production in the spring of 2026 without direct heirs.

  • BMW Z4: 2018-2026
  • BMW Series 8: 2018-2025

Ford

Another farewell announced for some time is that of the Ford Focus which in November 2025 saw the last example of the (once) popular German hatchback and wagon leave the production lines.

Its legacy and partly that of the EcoSport will be taken up in 2026 by an unprecedented full and mild hybrid crossover SUV which could once again be called EcoSport or Bronco Sport.

Fiat

There is also a Fiat among the cars that will greet us in 2026 and it is the Fiat Tipo, the compact car produced in Turkey which today can still be purchased with a 4-door sedan body and a 130 HP 1.6 turbodiesel engine.

Production of the Tipo at the Turkish Bursa plant is expected to end in June 2026while its ideal heir would seem to be the new Fiat Fastback (or Panda Fastback) which should be born in the Moroccan Kenitra factory at the beginning of 2027.

Honda

The current Honda Civic Type R will not end its production career next year, but in Europe and other markets it will no longer be sold due to exhaust CO2 limits.

The heir to the legendary Japanese sports car has not yet been announced, but it is already certain that it will be hybrid and that we will not see it before 2027. Until then, acting as a bridge, there is the less powerful but interesting Honda Prelude coupé.

Jeep

The Jeep Renegade, at least the one produced in Melfi for the European market, retired in October 2025, thanks to the presence in Jeep’s price lists of the even more compact Jeep Avenger which is also electric and mild hybrid.

At the moment there is no information on its possible successor, but a new off-road vehicle that could fill the gap between the aforementioned Avenger and the larger Compass could make sense.

Mercedes

It’s time for major changes in the Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG model range. The recent debuts of the new Mercedes CLA, GLB and GLC seem to have put an end to the career of the current Mercedes B-Class, Mercedes EQB and Mercedes EQA during 2026, even if official confirmations are lacking.

The Mercedes EQE and the Mercedes EQE SUV, as well as the GLC Coupé, also appear to be at the end of the race. Some sources also take it for granted that the production of cars with the AMG logo equipped with the sporty two-litre four-cylinder hybrid will be stopped. Probable farewell, therefore, to Mercedes-AMG C 43, Mercedes-AMG C 63 S and Performance, Mercedes-AMG GLA 35, Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 SE Performance.

Mitsubishi

The high costs linked to adaptation to the increasingly stringent European regulations on exhaust emissions, safety and driving aids have also decreed the end of the Mitsubishi Space Star, the Japanese compact car which should disappear from the price lists in 2026.

The smallest of the Mitsubishi therefore seems destined to remain the Mitsubishi Colt which in 2026 will take the form of the new sixth generation Renault Clio, with related petrol, LPG and full hybrid engines.

  • Mitsubishi Space Star: 2012-2025

Porsche

2025 is also the last year of production for the Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster as we know them now, i.e. with only the four- and six-cylinder petrol boxer engine, without any type of electrification.

Their place will be taken by the new Porsche 718 which will be both electric and petrol in order to accompany Porsche customers in the transition towards a zero-emission future. We will know more by the end of 2026.

  • Porsche 718 Cayman: 2016-2025
  • Porsche 718 Boxster: 2016-2025

Renault

Renault’s vast range of SUVs and crossovers is about to undergo “rationalization” with the exit in 2026 of the Renault Arkana, the SUV coupé measuring 4.56 meters and located between Austral and Rafale.

Renault Arkana

It shouldn’t have a direct heir, even if the Renault Symbioz and the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric seem like the perfect candidates, even if a little more compact, so as not to regret the South Korean Arkana.

  • Renault Arkana: 2021-2026

Toyota

The farewell to the BMW Z4 is linked to the end of production of the Toyota GR Supra, the Japanese sports car developed jointly with the Germans with powerful four and six-cylinder engines and ready to say goodbye to us in 2026.

2027 will be the year of a new Supra, but this time developed entirely by Toyota and with the new GR branding on it.

  • Toyota GR Supra: 2019-2026

Volkswagen

With the Final Edition which can be ordered until March 2026, the history of the Volkswagen Touareg comes to an end, at least the one with petrol and diesel engines which lasts over twenty years and three generations of maxi SUVs.

Volkswagen Touareg

To see a new ID. Touareg in electric version we will probably have to wait until at least 2028.

  • Volkswagen Touareg: 2018-2026

Volvo

The long tradition of Volvo’s large station wagons with petrol and diesel engines seems to be coming to an end with the stop in production, in September 2025, of the Volvo V90, which will be replaced in the still distant future by a new electric family car.

During 2026, sales of the more compact Volvo V60 could also stop, with the Cross Country version set to end production. Nothing official yet about its electric heir.
