The well-known American site Carscoops.com in the last few hours he published an article signed by Thanos Pappas where we talk about one New Fiat Multipla. Apparently even in America they dream of the return of the legendary model and have decided to imagine it through a rendering which, as they themselves say, is clearly based on the recent concept Citroen Elo. In fact, this model immediately made us think of the Multipla as it is a 6-seater minivan. Apparently we are not the only ones to hypothesize that this concept of Citroen can be used as a starting point for some future models including a possible new entry for the Fiat range, heir to the famous 90s car.
A rendering based on Citroen Elo thus imagines the design of a hypothetical, future, new Fiat Multipla
This idea doesn’t seem so far-fetched after all. After all, as we have written to you in our other articles, the CEO of Fiat himself had spoken about a new Fiat Multipla Olivier Francois who first thought of using the name for one of the future SUVs, but then apparently changed his mind, saying that a name of this type would return to the range of the Turin company only in the case of models consistent with the car of the past, therefore a 6-seater minivan.
This concept Citroen ELO it is exactly a 6-seater minivan that in the future will also find space in the real world and the fact that very often Fiat ends up creating models derived from Citroen as happened with Mickey Mouse, Big Panda and future SUVs arriving in 2026, leads us to think that the same could happen with this car too. Consequently, it seems very likely that in this case the Multipla name will be revived, which still today causes discussion and divides enthusiasts all over the world.
With minimal changes to its design, Fiat could launch its own variant of the Elo, while still sharing development costs with Citroen, if a pair of minivans of this type ever hit the streets. A clear visual appeal is present in the lighting system. The concept rendering proposed by Carscoops presents Round LEDs combined with slim daytime running lights positioned at the base of the windshieldthis is a clear reference to the two-level overlapping headlights that made the 1998 Multipla famous. A slightly reworked front end, with smoother surfaces and the new Fiat logo, completes the update.
Much of the 4.10 meter bodywork takes up the design of the Citroën ELO, except the rear area, where the UFO headlights could be replaced by pill-shaped versions, inspired by the playful character of the Fiat Topolino. To complete the ensemble, the concept sports retro-style alloy wheels, derived from the celebratory versions of the Fiat 500, and a more vibrant exterior color range. Subtle plastic cladding around the wheel arches, matching the bumpers and door inserts, gives it a rugged, ready-for-everyday look.
The internal layout maintains the philosophy of the Citroën concept: six individual seats, central driving, and the possibility of removing or rearranging the seats for inflatable mattresses and modular compartments, making the vehicle ideal for family and adventures. Being designed for an electric platform, it does not accommodate combustion engines; a compact rear engine and a small battery are enough for the city and short escapes out of town.
The original Fiat Multipla, designed by Dante Giacosa in 1955, was compact but surprisingly spacious, with six seats and a large boot. The second generation of 1997, although characterized by a bold design, continued to favor functionality. A new modern and electric generation could represent an eccentric but certainly faithful reinterpretation to the tradition of this legendary model.
