So the victim finds a missed call and is instinctively tempted to call back to see who it is, and that’s where the deception starts. When you try to call and contact these numbers, a phone call is automatically made but there is no response. At that moment the ring you hear on the other end of the phone is not the traditional ring of an unanswered phone call, but in reality it is a noise recorded specifically to keep the victim in line.
In other words, the phone call goes out and the caller doesn’t realize it, but in the meantime they are being charged disproportionate amounts.
