Tesla he believes a lot in the project of his humanoid robot Optimus on which he is working hard. The goal is to have it ready to be marketed by the end of 2025. Obviously, when it comes to Tesla and timing, statements should always be taken with great caution. However, the company is investing a lot of resources in this project. Moreover, the interest in humanoid robots to be used in factories to carry out repetitive and dangerous tasks for people is growing a lot. In recent months we have seen several similar projects in which some car manufacturers such as BMW are also collaborating.

Now, Elon Musk’s company has shared a new small update through a video in which Optimus is once again seen in action.

In the new video we see the humanoid robot perform some repetitive tasks. In particular, move battery cells from one container to another, first alone and then in collaboration with an industrial robot. In the video we can also observe the presence of the technicians who are guiding Optimus to replicate some movements as part of the training of the neural networks.

In reality, therefore, the robot does not really seem to move autonomously but alone replicate engineers’ moments who are guiding him. This does not exclude, however, that he can already carry out some actions independently.

Software development work is progressing, allowing Optimus to begin performing increasingly complex tasks. However, there still appears to be a lot of work to be done if we really aim to market it to third parties by the end of 2025. Since it was presented, however, important steps forward have been made.

A Tesla engineer explains that Optimus has an end-to-end neural network that uses only video from the robot’s cameras and sensors. The hardware uses Tesla’s FSD computer.

A great deal of work was also done at the level of the hand development to allow the robot to better manage objects. In this regard, Elon Musk has made it known that a new technical update will arrive by the end of the year which will introduce new hands with an operation even closer to that of human hands.
