The new Tesla Model 2 could arrive by the end of 2025

Qa few weeks ago, it emerged that Tesla had shelved the project of an electric one at the price of $25,000. However, last week, the American car manufacturer itself seems to have declared that the new economical electric car will arrive by the second half of 2025.
In recent weeks, Reuters had declared that the project “Model 2” – an electric car with a price of around 25,000 dollars and arriving perhaps in 2025 – would have been set aside by the same Elon Musk. However, the CEO himself had denied the newspaper’s news and, a few days ago, it seems that the arrival of the new Model 2 can actually happen.
During the conference call on the quarterly results, Tesla has stated that it will use both a platform that the production lines existing to produce models “more accessible” by early next year. Inevitably, the announcement sparked a surge in actions of Tesla and, as has happened on other occasions, the automaker received widespread praise from investors. Furthermore, the same Elon Musk announced its intention to begin production of new models “early 2025, if not already late 2024”.
Tesla stated that the change will allow the company to launch quickly vehicles to Bass cost, but will result in less than expected cost reduction and modest volume growth. Finally, in a statement from the American car manufacturer, Tesla declared:
“We have updated our future range to accelerate the launch of new models before the start of production, which we initially communicated for the second half of 2025. The new vehicles, including the most affordable ones, will use elements of the next generation platform and elements of our current architectures, and can be produced on the same production lines as our current range”
But the revolutionary technique?
THEin short, Elon Musk it will do no more and no less than what already happens in the world of “fossil” cars: based on technologies and projects already well tested and acquired, we will finally arrive at the legendary 25k Tesla, but from the premises it was an operation that seemed to have to take place in a completely different way, introducing “never before seen” technologies that would revolutionize “the way a car is built” and allowing economies of scale huge. It’s something he has makes perfect sense with a view to making less expensive models and almost all carmakers have put it into practice: take a platform (in this case it will be the Model 3/Model Y) and perform an operation which in jargon is called “decontenting” to scale the price: smaller and less expensive batteries, less refined motors, simplified layouts and lower cost materials. The reality is a little more complex than how I described it but the words of the Tesla boss leave no doubt: revolutionary techniques they can wait a little longer.
