The Government cuts the legs of motorcyclists: a very hard decision to accept

Incredible decision by the Italian Government, with motorcyclists who are speechless when faced with such a choice.

In Italy we are increasingly trying to meet citizens’ requests, especially as regards the world of motors. In fact, more and more companies are launching a series of initiatives aimed at lowering the cost of cars and motorbikes, thus trying to limit the increase in prices resulting from inflation as much as possible.

There is no doubt that nowadays the main aim is to convince as many Italians to purchase an electric vehicle. In fact, these are the future and with their help it will be possible to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the country.

Motorcycles are among the vehicles that nowadays struggle very much to establish themselves as a high-level electric version. In fact, bikers are faithful to the old engine thermal, because the roar of the engine of your two-wheeler is something that cannot be hidden in any way and indeed deserves to be exalted as much as possible.

For this reason, the citizens’ hope was to see even just a small contribution from the Government for the purchase of two-wheelers. Apparently the aid will only be linked to electric motorcycleswith the total stop to aid for thermal motorbikes which caused quite a stir.

Thermal motorbikes: goodbye to bonuses

In the end there was no long-awaited government aid for thermal bikes, with this decision triggering protests from ANCMA, or National Cycle Motorcycle Accessories Association. Initially, in fact, there were supposed to be small concessions, just as happens for cars that have emissions of less than 135 g/km of CO2.

Apparently there will be no further increases, with the Prime Ministerial Decree which does not provide for increases compared to the 5 million that have already been allocated as a contribution for these motorbikes. The problem is that Italians immediately flocked to this aid, so much so that it ran out already in the first month of the year, with many hoping to see the incentives increase.

As many as 17 million euros had advanced from 2022 and had already been allocated by Government for contributions on electric motorbikes and scooters. However, these will not be distributed, but will be taken in bulk and added to the already existing bonuses for zero impact motorcycles. What this means is that the total will be a state contribution which will be 20 million Euros.

A hard blow for motorcyclists and a choice that is controversial. What is needed at the moment is to ensure that those who own old motorbikes change them and new motorbikes that are much less polluting than in the past are also fine. This total turn towards electric risks turning into a boomerang, with Italians who are not at all satisfied with this decision by the Government.
