Mosquito net bonus 2024, the requirements to have the 50% deduction and how to obtain it: the models allowed
Descriptive text here

The 2024 mosquito net bonus is worth 50% of the expense made to buy and install protections against mosquitoes, but the requirements must be respected: they must be mosquito nets that allow you to save energy, and a communication to Enea is required. Here’s who can get the bonus and how.

The bonus mosquito nets it is worth 50% of the expenditure made to install mosquito nets which allow to improve energy efficiency, up to a maximum of 60 thousand euros of expenditure for each real estate unit. The benefit is not a separate building bonus, but is part of the Ecobonus already in force. To obtain the bonus there are no particular income or other requirements, but the installation must concern a type of mosquito net that reduces the property’s consumption. Therefore, you will need to pay attention to the model chosen to be sure of being able to obtain the 50% deduction.

How much is the 2024 mosquito net bonus worth

The mosquito net bonus is valid until 31 December 2024 (it was also proposed last year and in previous years), and gives access to a 50% deduction of the expense carried out not only for the purchase, but also for the installation of mosquito nets, as well as for the removal and disposal of old systems if this is necessary. Ancillary works and the fee of the professional responsible for carrying out the communication to Enea (National Energy Agency) in order to obtain the bonus can also be deducted. The spending threshold is very high – 60 thousand euros, therefore a deduction of 30 thousand euros – because the requirements are the same as the Ecobonus, which also applies to other types of building interventions.

For those who receive the benefit, the deduction may be ‘spread’ over ten years. For example, anyone who spends 10 thousand euros will be able to deduct 5 thousand from their Irpef or Ires, and deduct 500 euros per year for the next ten years when making the tax return and paying the tax.

The requirements to obtain it and the models eligible for the deduction

As mentioned, the mosquito net bonus is actually part of the Ecobonus, so the benefit can only be applied if you purchase a type of mosquito net that allows you to increase the energy efficiency of the property, i.e. to save energy. This of course limits the models that can be bought. The types of devices permitted are only those with solar shielding and which have a GTOT index lower than 0.35%. Furthermore, they must be fixed and adjustable mosquito nets (not the removable models) and must be installed to protect a glass surface, such as a window.

A final important aspect to access the bonus is that payments must be traceable, made with credit or debit cards, or with bank transfers. In the document confirming the payment there must be both the tax code (or VAT number) of the person who wants to have the bonus, the date and number of the invoice, and the reason for payment.

How to request the relief

If you meet the requirements, you can apply and receive the 50% deduction provided for by the mosquito net bonus. You need to send a communication to Enea within ninety days from the time of testing of the works carried out. Usually a professional is hired to specifically deal with this phase. The communication must include a descriptive sheet of the intervention and a test report (the declaration of conformity of the company that carried out the work also applies).
