The new hydrogen ready turbine that Ansaldo Energia supplied to EP Produzione is ready to come into operation
Descriptive text here

The first parallel of the hydrogen ready GT36 gas turbine took place in recent days, which Ansaldo Energia supplied to EP for its combined cycle thermoelectric power plant in Tavazzano and Montanaso (located in the municipalities of Montanaso Lombardo and Tavazzano with Villavesco, in the province of Lodi).

The synchronization of the gas turbine with the national electricity grid – as Ansaldo Energia explains in a note – is a decisive step in the process of commissioning the new 800 MW power unit, capable of satisfying the annual consumption of over 1 million and means of families and preparatory to its entry into operation. The first parallel follows the ‘first firing’ by a few days, i.e. the first ignition of the gas turbine, the heart of the plant.

Ansaldo Energia, for the Tavazzano and Montanaso units, oversaw the entire project as EPC Contractor, taking care of the complete construction of the new production unit, from foundations to commissioning: the combined cycle is composed of a gas turbine GT36 class H, coupled to a steam turbine and two related generators, all high-tech components entirely made at the Ansaldo Energia factories. The GT36 turbine, in particular, is already set up for the combustion of hydrogen, in a mixture of up to 70%.
