LIVORNO. Port and logistics. Chemistry, but also weapons. The traditional ranking published by Tirreno on the hundred richest companies in Livorno, Collesalvetti and Capraia – ranking which is drawn up on the basis of the profits declared in the financial statements presented this year and relating to 2024, drawn up on the data of the specialized portal Registroaziende.it – sees the shipping agency triumphing for the second consecutive year, and for the third in the last four Del Corona & Scardigliin the lead with earnings of 17,647,631 euros and a turnover of 295,609,759.

The podium

For the Azeglio airport giant – 66% owned by Umberto and Luigi Del Corona’s Delcofin and 34% by Fratelli Scardigli (Fulvio D’Angelo, Francesca and Giulia Scardigli, Carla Bondi, Antonietta D’Angelo and Paola Falleni) – there was a slight decline in earnings (-4.63%, in 2023 they were 18,504,310 euro) while revenues increased by 8.52% from 272,405,601 two years ago. Figures far from the record of 2021, when it reached 339,806,253 euros. From this point of view in the city the shipping agency remains behind only Bunkeroil (343,817,705 euro turnover), which however makes much less profits (3,144,084, in nineteenth position), while at the provincial level only Unicoop Etruria, Solvay and Jsw Steel of Piombino surpass it, the last two also in terms of earnings.

Returning to Livorno, excellent result for Laviosa Mining Chemistry (of which Giovanni Laviosa is CEO and Olimpia Laviosa director of “Laviosa Pet Care”) silver medal city with 11,364,068 profit (+6.71% on 2023) and 79,605,763 turnover, while the Black Brothers of the family of the same name, whose CEO is the president of local Confindustria Piero Neri, is third with 10,663,951 earnings and a turnover of 43,106,951.

The ranking

Segue Feralco of via Leonardo da Vinci – company with 18 production plants in eight European countries that offers a wide range of coagulants and flocculants for the treatment of drinking water and municipal and industrial effluents, as well as reagents for industrial processes such as paper production or chemical production – with profits of 9,090,544 euros and a turnover of 28,136,754.

In fifth position, and first among the companies participated by the public, the water giant Asawhose major shareholders are the Municipalities of Livorno (36.55%), Piombino (4.7%), Volterra (1.57%), Pomarance (0.41%) and Suvereto (0.41%), while with 40% the private shareholder is Ireti of the Iren Group. Excellent performance for the environmental services company, with record earnings of 8,978,391 (+217% on 2023) and revenues of 116,611,232, ten more than the previous period. «The numbers for 2024 – the words of President Stefano Taddia – represent well the growth of the company and its ability to support the ambitious investment plan approved last year by the Water Authority, for 316 million euros in the six years that separate us from the expiry of the concession. What matters is not so much the profits, but the ability to invest which has doubled in the last five years.”

Following in the top 10 Hillebrand Goriworld leader in wine logistics – founded in the post-war period by the late Angelo “Nino” Caponi and for some time of the German Deutsche Post – which this year loses the podium “stopping”, so to speak, at 8,809,327 (with a turnover of 216,095,828 euros); while in the weapons sector Cheddite Italy of via del Giaggiolo is in seventh position, with 7,262,875 in profit and 71,825,637 in turnover.

They follow Marterner – controlled by F2i Holding Portuale and active in the unloading, warehousing of customs warehouses and the delivery of forestry products, metals and other bulk materials – with 6,629,255 euros of profit and 54,192,486 of turnover, the Cilp (Port Workers Enterprise Company) for half of the Neri Group and for the other of the Port Company, with 5,526,332 profits (turnover at 39,657,879) and, closing the top 10 of the richest Labronica companies, we find the Colligiana Ram Energy E&C of Guasticce, which creates industrial plants for the oil & gas, traditional and renewable energy, chemical and petrochemical sectors, with profits of 4,802,034 (+58.32) and a turnover of 37,705,190 euros. «Cilp’s result – comments vice-president Enzo Raugei – is good and derives from management without extraordinary operations. A good trend is therefore confirmed both in terms of traffic volume and business performance: it is among the leading terminal companies in the port.”
