The first meeting of the fourth edition of “Libri in Cortile” is scheduled for Sunday 16 June, at 7.30 pm, in the courtyard of “Le Fabbriche” (Fondazione Orestiadi), in via San Francesco 1. This is the editorial review, organized with the free patronage of the Municipality of Agrigento, which animates the historic center of the city every summer.

The first guest of the season will be the English writer Geoff Dyer, journalist for The Guardian, who will present his famous book “Still Life with Sax Case. Stories of Jazz” (Il Saggiatore editions). Considered one of the most important narrative works on jazz, Dyer’s book immerses us in fascinating tales that explore the lives of some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time including Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Art Pepper, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Lester Young, Bud Powell and Ben Webster.

The evening will be enriched by the collaboration of the Toscanini Conservatory of Ribera which will perform some of the pieces by the protagonists of the book. The event is organized by Blasco da Mompracem, the literary blog of the cultural operator Roberto Bruccoleri, artistic director of the event, in collaboration with FestiValle and its artistic director Fausto Savatteri. The initiative is part of the Festivalle Off program.

“We are proud to support cultural events such as ‘Books in the courtyard’ – say the mayor of Agrigento Francesco Miccichè and the councilor for culture Costantino Ciulla – which enhance our historical and artistic heritage. Events like this contribute to rediscovering Agrigento in its thousand-year-old essence, promoting culture and tourism in our wonderful historic center. Applause and thanks to Roberto Bruccoleri and Fausto Savatteri for their ability to attract prestigious names such as Geoff Dyer who further enrich the cultural offering of our city”.
