Galatina: Edda Negri Mussolini tells the story of her family in two books

Talk about the relationships of the Mussolinis who came after Mussolini and the memories of his grandmother who accompanied his childhood. Thus were born the two books that Edda Negri Mussolini, niece of Benito Mussolini and Rachele Guidi, will present on Saturday 22 June, at 6.30 pm, at the Palazzo della Cultura in via Cafaro in Galatina.
“Mussolini after Mussolini” and “Donna Rachele, my grandmother”, published by Minerva Edizioni (Bologna), were written by Edda with the participation, respectively, of Mario Russomanno (historian, writer, journalist and TV presenter) and Emma Moriconi (journalist, writer, actress and theater director).
Edda, daughter of the presenter Nando Pucci Negri and of Anna Maria Mussolini, the latter daughter of Rachele Guidi and the founder of fascism, has collaborated with several newspapers and worked for years on TV as an author and presenter (she was the animator of Topo Gigio ). In the editorial offices of various Rai programs including “Your beauty and surroundings”, “Healthier and more beautiful”, “See you on TV”, Edda now deals with public relations for television production companies.
In a few days he will be a guest in Galatina to present the two volumes, talk with Antonio Cardigliano, president of the association “Una voci countercurrent”, and the participants in the event.

During the meeting, introduced by Massimo Giannini, unpublished videos, photos and documents will be presented.

“Mussolini after Mussolini” is a novel-essay-diary. The portrait of a family and a dense story of historical events. How did the widow Rachele and Benito Mussolini’s children deal with the fate that had thrown them from the privileges of the twenty years of fascism to the very difficult post-war situation for them? What feelings animated them? What relationship did they have with politics and instructions? What people did they choose, or had the opportunity, to become? Edda tells it in this book set in Riccione in the sixties and seventies. The place is the house in Carpena, a hamlet of Forlì, where she lived as a child and adolescent with her maternal grandmother, with her uncles Edda Mussolini Ciano, Vittorio and Romano Mussolini. A story of the history of the family after the grandfather, starting from the post-war period, of the dearest affections and of the relationship with the parents, uncles and paternal grandmother. In the pages of the book there are also people close to the family who make the stories even richer in anecdotes.
With “Donna Rachele, my grandmother, Benito Mussolini’s wife”, the author opens the door to memories, the private life of her grandparents and family. She collects the stories that accompanied her childhood. Known to all as Donna Rachele, the Duce’s wife, for her Edda was simply her “grandmother”, the person who raised her after the premature death of her mother Anna Maria. From the book emerge feelings, emotions and the portrait of grandmother Rachele, a strong, humble woman with strong values and principles. An authentic portrait of a wife, mother and grandmother. The life story of Donna Rachele.
