If it is true that love is found everywhere, that it is important to let life take its course and that the search for a soul mate or a new friendship can also just be a question of destiny, it is equally true that, at least in some cases, it can be useful to be in the right place at the right time. Libraccio, the main independent chain of bookshops in Italy, knows this well and, together with Ostello Bello, a company founded more than ten years ago in Milan and now present with many structures in the main Italian cities, created “I read it in your eyes”, an initiative designed to encourage live meetings between reading enthusiasts, going beyond the boundaries of dating apps between the pages of timeless classics, new catalogues, thrillers, biographies and romance novels.

In Florence the appointment is scheduled for Tuesday 11 June. It works like this: after registering for free on Eventbrite (https://linktr.ee/teloleggonegliocchi), once you reach the location, you will receive the participation kit – a branded canvas bag and a sticker on which to reveal your favorite title – and everything will begin from there.

After the great success of the previous editions, which were almost always sold out, Libraccio returns to propose this initiative with the arrival of the summer season, giving the public an opportunity to make new acquaintances, build relationships, exchange ideas and opinions on latest books read or even just spending a few hours reading.

“When we launched I can see it in your eyes, exactly one year ago, we weren’t sure that the initiative would involve and excite so many people, becoming a truly consolidated format from which we know friendships and relationships were born that continue today . We wanted to offer people a new way of meeting and spending time together, after the years of the pandemic which forced us to keep our distance, and it soon began to gather great support, so much so that it was replicated in other cities – he comments Carlotta SanzogniSocial and PR manager of Libraccio – What we wanted to create was a space for everyone, where they can feel free to express their passion for reading and meet people with whom they can share all this: being here, one year later, to announce the new given is an enormous satisfaction, which confirms to us once again how important it is to meet in person and how culture can be the glue and animator of our society”.

“I read it in your eyes” thus becomes a moment of sharing and rediscovery of reading, in a historical period in which, as the data also confirms, the number of Italians who have read at least one book is growing (in 2023, 74% compared to 71% of 2022). They are driven by young people, who make up the largest share of readers and who, in the era of dating apps and the TikTok boom, are once again appreciating real experiences and in-person exchanges.
