From May 27th “I libri per strada” returns to Sarzana

The historic literary event “Libri per Strada, the Road to Books” returns to Sarzana, this year in its XXXII edition. The event, as usual, is organized by bookshops, comic shops and an antiquarian bibliographic studio in the city, and will be held from 27 May to 2 June and will enjoy the patronage of the Municipality of Sarzana and the collaboration of Confesercenti. The Kermesse will be open to the public from 10:00 to 24:00 in the traditional location of Piazza Luni and Palazzo Roderio with its historic stalls with the aim of offering a complete choice of books from new books to old books, from comics to readings for the little ones and much more. There will be meetings with authors, copy signing, musical performances and workshops for all ages. Alessandro Bernardini of the bibliographic studio of the same name and Arianna Frediani of the “Il Mulino del Libro” bookshop, President and Vice President of the “Libri per Strada” Association underline the spirit that animates the event, and which allowed the birth of the Association itself: “ Restore dignity and value to the act of reading, as a moment of study, in-depth analysis, comparison and social aggregation, expanding and diversifying the spaces and moments dedicated to this activity and to the culture of books”. This year too, building on the experience of previous years, “Libri per Strada” hosts the third edition of the “Tolkien Studies Day”, which will act as a preview and will take place on 25 and 26 May and which represents a dedicated thematic study to the figure of Professor JRR Tolkien, the greatest English scholar of philology and literature, known above all for the saga “The Lord of the Rings” set in the legendary Middle Earth. The two-day event is divided into a series of meetings with authors and scholars of Tolkien’s subject, live performances by artists and illustrators and quality themed stalls. In particular, this edition will be enriched by the collaboration with the gaming associations “Alea Games” and “Gidierre.net” which organize the event in the “Sarzana Play” event which has in turn reached its third edition, which will take place in the setting of Piazza De Andrè, and which delves into the theme of board, role-playing and collectible card games as a tool for aggregation and overcoming interpersonal barriers, with particular regard to its use in therapies against disabilities and autism. Highlights of the event will certainly be “Songs of the Vast River”, a traditional concert for Celtic harp and percussion by Arthuan Rebis and Nicola Caleo, on the evening of Saturday 26 May and the meetings with the authors that will take place in the following days. The artistic directors of the two souls of the event, Arianna Frediani and Valentino Giannini, wish to sincerely thank all those who have committed themselves with seriousness, passion and competence to the best outcome of the same, and in particular Giorgio Borrini, Councilor for Culture, for having renewed the trust of the administration in the commitment of the bookshops, the Lavoratorio Artistico for the excellent quality of the service, Professor Millo Lasio for the illustration of the poster, Michele Buriassi of “Gidierre.net” and Lia Natoli of “Alea Games” for having shared a path, all the artists and speakers who will make their expertise available and Sergio Guastini and Ornella Ruggeri, historical booksellers from Sarzana, for making all this possible.

As for the authorsthe inauguration will be entrusted to Maurizio Maggiani and in the following days guests will be: Marco Imarisio, Emanuele Taglietti, Alessandro Zannoni, Sandra Petrignani, Marco Ferrari, Susanna Raule, Flavio Caroli, Giorgio Pagano, Michele Peroncini, Jonathan Lazzini, Massimo Pesucci, Flavio Soriga, Roberto Arduini, Stefano Giorgianni, Cecilia Barella, Valentina Serra and Fabio Gabrielli.
