It was an incredible, memorable day, overflowing with values, meanings, emotions, that at Turin Book Fair on Saturday 11 May, at the conclusion of the XXIII edition of the InediTO Award – Colline di Torino organized by the Il Camaleonte Association of Chieri (TO). The attentive, warm and crowded public participated in the announcement of the winners at thePiedmont Arena (made available by Piemonte regionthe main supporting body) and at the awards ceremony, included in the programme Salon OFFwhich took place in the beautiful location of Victoria Theatre of Turin and live streaming on the award’s Facebook page, through the awarding of the prizes and the reading dedicated to the winners’ works, conducted by the star of the day, the poet and performer Valerio Vigliaturodirector of the competition.
The designation, made in April at Holden School of Turin, he had appointed 65 finalists in the various sections and special prizes, selected on 828 registered And 870 works received from all over Italy and fromabroadfrom the Reading Committee (formed by Valentino Fossati, Riccardo Levi, Clara Calavita, Davide Bertelè, Fabio Bisogni, Beneddetta Marchiori and Vigliaturo himself). The final evaluation (according to the competition criteria) of the Jury chaired by Margherita Oggero is formed from Aldo Nove (connected to the live broadcast and animated on the Vittoria stage thanks to a surprising hardback), Francesca Serragnoli, from the writers Piersandro PallaviciniEleonora C. Caruso, Graziano Gala (who presented in collaboration with the award and the Department of Culture and Education of Chieri, represented by Antonella Giordano, his “Counterdictionary of the Italian language” Baldini+Castoldi, on 10 May at the “A. Monti” Auditorium in Chieri ), Elena G. Mirabelli, Giuseppe Lupo, Sonia Caporossi, from the actors Federica FracassiAlessandro Averone, by the directors Adriano Valerio, Irene Dorigotti, by the songwriters Peppe Voltarelli (who enchanted the audience during the awards ceremony with some songs taken from her latest album “La grande corsa towards Lupionòpolis”), Carolina Bubbico and by the winners of the 2023 edition (Antonella Sica, Beatrice Tozzi, Samuele Chiovoloni, Fabio Ferrari, Chiara Arrigoni, Lucrezia Delle Foglie, Carlo Murè and Themorbelli) awarded 42 authors36 in the various sections and 6 in the special prizes.
The winning works of the seven sections were: for Poetry “’ndrangheta” Of Alfredo Panetta (Locri, RC), for Fiction-Novel Cartilage Of Giulio Iovine (Bologna), for the Narrative-Story “July” by Valentina Ghelfi (Piacenza), for the non-fiction “Francesco Da Buti, Regule” Of Chiara Martinelli (Lucca), for the theatrical text “Eternauti” by Dario Postiglione (San Giorgio a Cremano, NA), for the cinematographic text “Come la luna” Of Francesco Lorusso (Gagliano Del Capo, LE), for the lyrics of the song “Sandy Marton” by Spring alias Luca Jura (Bari). While for the special prize “Unpublished Rediscovered”, dedicated to an unpublished work by non-living writers, “Epistolario” by Grazia Deledda (consisting of thirty letters and postcards written between 1899 and 1904), discovered by the philologist Giancarlo Porcuwhich received an award, and for “InediTO Young”, through a fountain pen offered by Aurora Penne and theWriting Workshop“Untitled” by Sofia Parisi (Milan) and “Scissori” by Zac alias Zachary Thomas Hazell (Rome) registered in the Poetry section, “The road of forgotten flowers Ruby” by Elisa Demeo (Turin) registered in the Fiction-Novel and “Il buco della hunger” by Pietro Pagliai (Ravenna) enrolled in the Narrative-Story.
A great female figure who had decided to live on herself, and for this reason ostracized by matrixism and the cultural patriarchy of her time, Deledda’s life is a story of authentic feminism, of emancipation and freedom, in defense of rights and equal opportunities of all women. In literature you planned to do for the Sardinians what Manzoni did for the Italians. She is Sardinian from Nuoro, she was the only Italian woman to have won the Nobel Prize for Literature and the first woman candidate for the Italian Parliament, when women didn’t even have the right to vote. He wrote the novel “After the Divorce” (published in volume in 1902 by Roux and Viarengo of Turin), in a period in which a lively debate on the introduction of divorce in Italy had already been underway for several years, imagining a law that entered in force after a long time, in 1970.
The award supports and accompanies the winners towards the world of publishing and entertainment, without abandoning them to their destiny, thanks to the prize pool of 8,000 Euros as a contribution for the publication, promotion and production of the works (publishing them with publishers such as The Ship of Theseus, Fandango and presenting them at other competitions, shows and festivals such as Witch Award, Hystrio Award, More books, freer, Bookcity Milan, AstiMusica And Lunezia Award).
The excerpts from the winning works were interpreted Francesca Vettori (actress, voice actress and dialogue writer, voice of Pimpa Of Altan), together with Manuel Zigante (cello) e Riccardo Mazza (sound engineer, composer, multimedia artist), who provided soundtracks for the stage reading, which has always characterized the final ceremony, through a “Live Algorithmic Coding” original and unpublished. In tune with the graphic theme “From IO to AI, what future for writing?“, realized by Margherita Giusti by MUTA animation (winner of the David di Donatello for best short film in 2024 and the Firebird Award at the 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival), which questioned a very current question, excluding for the first time in a literary competition, texts generated by artificial intelligence software. The new special prize will be dedicated to the literary interaction between man and machine in 2025!
