Marilù Demuro, “little pen”, at the Turin Book Fair tells “The legend of the Canyon, the Gravina and its stream”

An unforgettable day, today, for little Marilù Demuro: accompanied by her mother Maria Grazia, she participated in the Turin International Book Fair for the presentation of the anthology of stories selected as part of the competition “A world among stories with Piccole Penne”, promoted by MTS Edizioni and the Mama Aps association of Marconia di Pisticci. The proceeds from the sales of the book, published by MTS Edizioni, will be allocated to social projects for the well-being of children, in collaboration with the Mama Aps association.

In the competition, aimed at children aged 8 to 12, Marilù participated with “The legend of the Canyon, the Gravina and its stream”. The story, as explained by Marilù – serene and self-confident, completely at ease during the presentation in the packed stand – tells of a conflicted love between a princess who lives with her family in the Tramontano castle and a shepherd who, instead, lives with sheep in a humble cave in the Murgia Materana Park. With the imagination of her 8 years old, Marilù has created a captivating plot where the descriptions of the breathtaking landscapes are the backdrop to the story told.

Surrounded by publishing houses, writers, booksellers and librarians, Marilù breathed literature in what is defined as the great international festival of culture. Curious and enthusiastic, on Monday she will be able to tell her magical adventure in Turin to her classmates – she attends the third grade of the Pascoli Institute, Nitti complex, in Matera – and to the teacher Bruna Raddi: the latter had assigned a track and the little girl had wrote a particular story referring to the birth of Gravina. A story that was “intercepted” by mother Maria Grazia and entered into the competition… The rest is known.
