The Cesare De Michelis International Prize for Publishing looks to the Buchmesse

At the Turin Book Fair the presentation of Cesare De Michelis International Prize for Publishingwhich arrives on the occasion of Italia Paese Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt International Book Fair (16-20 October 2024). Marsilio Editori – together with De Michelis family – and the Buchmesse thus announce that they have started a partnership for the Award.

The announcement was made at the Salone in a meeting attended by Juergen Boos, director of the Frankfurt Fair, of the president of the IEA Innocenzo CipollettaTeresa Cremisi, president of the Prize jury (and president of Adelphi), e Luca De MichelisCEO of Marsilio Editori and representing the De Michelis family, to which was added the best wishes of the director Annalena Benini.

Director Boos will join the current jury of professionals in the sector, composed of the president Cremisi, Francesca Varotto (Marsilio Editori) and the winners of previous editions: Naveen Kishore (Seagull Books, awarded 2022), Michael Krüger (Carl Hanser Verlag, winner in 2023) e Fiona McCraefor twenty-seven years at the helm of Graywolf Press, which recently received the recognition.

During the days of the Buchmesse, a special space will be dedicated to the Award and during the presentation event the winning publisher of the next edition will be announced, who will then be awarded – as per tradition – during a ceremony within Crossroads of civilizations in Venicein the spring of 2025.

The award in memory of Cesare De Michelis, now in its third edition, is promoted by Marsilio Editori, the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Venice Foundation as part of the Incroci di Civiltà literary festival and is awarded to publishers who have stood out for their project on the international scene. “The partnership started with Buchmesse – underlines the presentation – also has the meaning of promoting an idea of ​​publishing beyond national bordersin the spirit of Cesare De Michelis and his gaze on the world starting from Venice, an ideal place for history and crossroads of cultures”.
