THE BOOK

The irreparable does not provide an alternative or possibility of choice. You can only survive and try to grow.

In this collection nothing necessarily corresponds to the primary meaning of the words. Everything, in fact, is filtered through the use of symbol, metaphor and myth, understood by the author as a vessel capable of ferrying between eras, of reconnecting the human with what truly belongs to him: man.

The Empyrean Fault” is a book that revives archetypes and topoi mythical and places them in a contemporary frame because, contrary to what many have stated, they have not stopped speaking to us, we just need to change perspective and listen.

The arts, far from being relegated to watertight compartments, interpenetrate, giving poetry nuances that allow it to become the singer of everyday life. There is therefore no shortage of references to the repertoire of Italian singer-songwriters (De André), to writers of every era and to the figurative and plastic arts in the urban context.

And then the Mediterranean, Puglia, Taranto, between personal history and collective history.

The work is divided into nine sections of different lengths, rich in correspondence between them and consists of 98 pages (in paperback).

The Empyrean Fault” can be purchased in paperback in all bookstores and through the major e-commerce sites. The ebook format, however, is available on Amazon at the advantageous price of €2.99 https://amzn.to/4afoX1E.

SYNOPSIS

Words are vehicles of meaning, but can we always believe the followers of poetry?

In this personal Odyssey, the author’s daily reality merges with mythological matter, creating a literary landscape where the boundaries of the ego blur and the interpretation between what is real and what is a dream is almost impossible, between symbols and metaphors, between empty spaces and words. Poetry thus becomes meta-literature, it questions and injects doubts on the state of art in the contemporary world.

The poet is dead and will never write again.

Is there, therefore, still room for the poetic word or is it now a rotting corpse that acts by inertia?

The Empyrean Fault it is therefore an expression of resistance, a voice that rises against oblivion and that claims the need for a poetic testimony lived with authenticity and mystery, in the eternal dance between light and shadow, between life and death.

FROM THE PREFACE

Of Pierfranco Bruni

“Rosaria Scialpi’s poetry is a frontier, a laceration, a border – horizon.

This strong poetry of his, impeccable on a systematic-linguistic level, rewinds the tape of an experience and living through a grid that calls myth into question. The Greek hollow of the cave is beyond the metaphysics of awareness because it engraves the silence of listening into the rock. A metaphysical real that allows a distant wave, as she herself writes, to break the silence. Why this? To awaken from torpor that which has no name. Perhaps. A provocation within a self-portrait of an insightful dialogue between poetry and the reader who, however, believes in the poetic language which is defined, precisely, in confession. […] A great poem.

[…] Beauty as lived experience, as metaphysical tragedy, as allegory. And it’s not due to me, but to the sensations that this book projects in each of us. To read it is to cherish it. To look after it is to live in it.”
