The Amici del libro exhibition continues on May 4th, at 5.30pm, at Palazzo Bonocore, with Carmen Pellegrino, the author who has twice won the Campiello selection, presents her “Dove la luce” (The ship of Theseus) at Palazzo Bonocore. A novel in which the figures of Milo appear, a man who has lost everything, extremely devoted to death, which he invokes every day, but who does not have the courage to inflict himself, and forced to live on the street and Federico Caffè, a professor full of questions destined to never receive a response.

The book is presented by Gad Lerner as part of the titles proposed by the Friends of Sunday for the 2024 Strega Prize. His novel is a dizzying descent into the memory of the places and the people who populated them, to the rediscovery of the hidden and infinite life that still lives there. Set in Rome, in April 1987. Milo is a man who has lost everything because of others, extremely devoted to death – which he invokes every day, but which he does not have the courage to inflict on himself – and forced to live on the streets. Federico Caffè is the Professor, a figure cloaked in questions destined to never receive answers. The first is a character (perhaps) fictional, the second a man who really existed, among the protagonists of the political and economic debate of the 1980s and a convinced supporter of the need to ensure high levels of employment and social protection for the weakest classes. His sudden disappearance is a mystery that still remains unsolved, his meeting with Milo is a new enigma. Postiglione, February 2023. A narrator takes on the memory of his family, retraces the hardships and joys of the debt of love that we all owe towards our roots. Milo and the Professor’s lives enter

The Amici del libro exhibition, conceived by Lia Vicari, sees, as usual, the latest releases from the most important Italian publishing houses presented to its audience. The fourth edition of the event is located between the Salinas Museum, the Botanical Garden and Palazzo Bonocore, organized in collaboration with the cultural association Retablo and CoopCulture.
