The comics workshops dedicated to adults at the 2024 Turin Book Fair

As part of the Turin Book Fair 2024 (9 – 13 May), the thirty-sixth edition of the most important festival in Italy dedicated to publishing, a series of comics workshops dedicated to adults.

It is the third year in a row that, thanks to the success of the participations, the Show is offering these meetings: real masterclasses in collaboration with entities such as Scuola Comics Torino, Bonelli, Panini Comics, Bao Publishing, Tunué and Renoir Comicsin which industry professionals – including authors and publishers – will meet the public for lessons on specific topics related to comics.

These events are almost all limited in number and require limited participation which can be accessed via reservation. Below is the complete list of workshops and related data with the link where you can book a place (for events not yet sold out).

THURSDAY 9 MAY 2024

Introduction to the manga technique

Address some characterizing elements of the Japanese comics technique, from the construction of the face in frontal and lateral views to the anatomical and expressive synthesis. A workshop also aimed at those who have no drawing experience.

Playing with custom decks of cards featuring Disney characters is now possible! The director of Mickey Mouse, Alex Bertani, tells us about the new direction of Disney playing cards, entrusted in recent years to the most significant authors of the weekly. A collector’s volume is dedicated to their creative work which collects Mickey Mouse’s Author Playing Cards, with preparatory sketches that highlight different details and styles of each artist and many curiosities. The designers Corrado Mastantuono and Paolo Mottura will participate in the workshop and will show live how they came to build their designer card decks.
