The Mayor of Naples attended the presentation to the press, held this morning at the Gallerie d’Italia Gaetano Manfrediwho spoke of a great opportunity for the city.

«NapoliCittàLibro is a significant opportunity for the city – declares the Mayor Gaetano Manfredi –. First of all, because it focuses on books, reading and publishing, fundamental topics for the cultural development of Naples, which has a great tradition in this sector and needs to grow further and be able to also have an industry editorial that is up to the level of the city. This initiative will allow us to have an important window on the publishing world. It opens up the exploration of new worlds and new cultures, allows for comparison, gives space to many medium and small publishing houses alongside the large publishing houses, involves the young generations and, by involving the municipalities, gives space to polycentric Naples.”

In fact, the ten municipalities of the Municipality of Naples will be involved, with neighborhood schools, libraries, associations, cultural institutes and projects, in order to involve citizens in a widespread manner, with particular attention and privilege for the most disadvantaged areas of our city and where school dropout is greater.

«The awareness edition» second Alessandro Polidoro, President of the Liber@Arte Association. «I believe that this fifth edition can be defined as the edition of maturity – declares Alessandro Polidoro –. We have been working for many months, starting from Naples and making our city a hub for connections that are not national, involving associations of publishers arriving from Sicily, Puglia and the Marche, who will come to talk about their culture; but also international: in Cali (Columbia), which remains twinned with NapoliCittàLibro, this year Durazzo (Albania) is added, present at the Salone with the president of the Albanian publishers and four authors, and our desire is to add every year a city. The Maritime Station is a door that opens to the cultures of the Mediterranean and beyond.”

National and regional book clubs, which meet every month to give space to authors, publishing houses and projects dedicated to the world of books and reading, will participate in this edition with events curated by them. The poster of the fifth edition was created by The Napolitaner, whose project, shown to the press at the end of the conference, entrusts the story of Naples to the illustrated covers of a magazine that does not exist, inspired by the famous covers of The New Yorker magazine.

«NapoliCittàLibro returns with a fifth edition to the Stazione Marittima with many more editorial acronyms than in other years. – he declares White Rosary –. We are happy to take a small step forward with respect to the organization of a book fair in Naples, claiming the fact of holding a fair that bears the name of our city and which is achieved thanks to a network that becomes larger every year.”
