This manual aims to be a practical guide for writing not only haiku poems, but also other poetic forms of Japanese origin such as tankaThe senry?it haibun and it haiga. The work is accompanied by numerous practical examples and exercises designed to involve the reader. All the aspects, first formal and then content, which distinguish haiku are clearly explained, as well as the compositional techniques and the main aesthetic values ​​typical of this poetics. The intent of this book is, among other things, not only to answer the question, positively, “how do you compose a good haiku?”, but also to make people understand, negatively, how one should not write a poem haiku, trying to avoid the most common mistakes.

Antonio Sacco, born in ’84, is a scholar and researcher of haiku poetry and other poetic genres of Japanese origin.

Since 2017 he has edited the column called “Echi da Shikishima” for the magazine Poesia del Nostro Tempo. In 2018, 2019 and 2020 he was included in the “European top 100 most creative haiku author”.
