It was a 1960s villa, different from all the others in the surrounding area: no easy aesthetic references to Tuscany, no terracotta, no bricks, no exposed beams, on the contrary. A UFO landed in the pine forest of Versilia, with some more than vague references to American modernist architecture, from Marcel Breuer to Frank Lloyd Wright. Surrounded by approximately 2,000 m2 of garden, it became the holiday home of a Milanese entrepreneur and her family, who immediately loved the building’s extraneous nature to the local construction humus and who immediately had very clear ideas about the renovation .

Change everything but change nothing

«We immediately liked the project, the building had a beautiful energy. The idea was to maintain some peculiar elements of the house, including the inspirations of the American modernist school, but with the flavor of an Italian era typical of this context”, he explains Luca Sartori of the Superluna Study who took care of the transformation of this 1960s villa within the spectacular Versiliana park, between Forte dei Marmi and Marina di Pietrasanta. «You could easily be in the USA, if only for the typically Mediterranean greenery in which the house is immersed», says Sartori. «We started with the arrangement of the external area, in which we inserted from scratch the swimming pool covered in “green Alpi” stone in continuity with the green tones of the park and a terrace for outdoor dining», he says again. «Then we dedicated ourselves to the interiors, 150 m2 on two floors in which we managed to create, on the upper floor, three suites, each with its own internal bathroom in 10×10 tiles of modernist inspiration». On the ground floor, all internal divisions have been demolished to create a unique and very bright space with the effect of continuity with the outdoors to feel surrounded by the park.
