Today: from Saturday 6 April Ripamonti’s works in Villa Sironi

The exhibition of Dario Ripamonti ”La Peinture dans la maison” will be inaugurated next Saturday April 6 to Today. A solo show that – organized by Angelo Tenchio Cultural Club – collects the works created by the artist from today in at least two decades.

”These are – explains Ripamonti – drawings collected in two folders that I called ”Oggiono and surroundings” and ”My country”. They are glimpses of Oggiono made with different techniques such as: pastel, India ink, lithographic pencil. All in small format, in color and black and white”.

Two collections of around 400 works from which Ripamonti has selected a ”minimal” part to be exhibited in the exhibition to be held in Villa Sironi in Oggiono. ”I believe that when a visitor goes to an exhibition he should be free to breathe; therefore, I lightened the exhibition as much as possible” explains Ripamonti who also announces an installation designed for the occasion.

”By copying nature we are no longer dealing with an immediate representation, but a mediated one, that is, indirect”. That is, the artistic choice made by Ripamonti in recent years. ”I took inspiration from landscapes such as those of the lake, from the gardens of villas, from ancient farmhouses, also bringing variations in the painting compared to what I saw” he explains. In this way, the drawing also becomes an ”escape from reality, from truth”. But, above all, it ”loses” any kind of ”photographic function”.

”People forget that everything is unique. Nature never produces the same thing twice. Hence my insistence on attracting the spirit in a direction that it is not used to awakening”, explains the artist from Oggiono in presenting his personal exhibition at Oggiono. Also remembering his preference for ”suspending landscapes in nuanced, indefinite atmospheres that are able to evoke emotional places”.

The exhibition is scheduled in different rooms of Villa Sironi, in each of which visitors will be able to find particular arrangements, specifically designed according to the subject portrayed and the context.

Ripamonti has been painting since 1965, ”since I learned from Angelo Tenchio who was teaching middle school at the time” specifies the artist from Oggione, recalling how he continued to frequent the artist’s studio for many years. ”On Saturday afternoons I took the train and went to his studio in Como, where I learned the different techniques until 1994, when Angelo Tenchio passed away”.
